For Sale:
iRiver / Red Wine Audio RWAK100

Will Ship To: Anywhere

Up for sale is my Red Wine Audio modified AK100. Thanks to Vinnie's outstanding work, this is easily one of the best combinations of size, UI and sound quality available on the market (possibly the best at combining all three factors). Details of the modification are here: Brand new price is $895 USD.

I reviewed the RWAK100 back in June 2013 on my blog. Please note that the modification significantly improves from the standard AK100 in terms of sound quality and ability to pair with a much wider range of earphones / headphones. Here's my review:

I am selling the RWAK100 because I need funds to buy some LCD 2s and am not out and about as often these days. It's an awesome player and the Red Wine Mod improves the sound over and above the standard AK100 (including Mk 2 versions).

Thanks to the modification, the RWAK100's output impedance is <1 ohm so it works with any and every earphone or headphone I've ever tried it with including <16 ohm custom IEMs through to 600 ohm beyer T1s.

Basic specs:

  • 32Gb onboard memory
  • 2 x micro SD slots which officially accept up to 32Gb cards, but work perfectly with larger cards formatted to FAT32
  • Optical line out and line in
  • Headphone jack acts as line out at full volume
  • USB DAC capabilities without the need for specific drivers

The device is in perfect working order and has 2 very minor cosmetic marks - there is a tiny sign of wear around the headphone jack and there is an even smaller sign of wear at the USB socket, but you can see in the pictures that these are only visible if you're really looking for them.

Supplied with all original packaging and materials including the hi-res sampler music booklet and 8Gb card (containing the sampler music), quick start guide, replacement screen and back protectors (the unit has the original ones still installed), and USB cable.

I've set the price based on new, standard AK100s costing $700 plus and the cost of the modification is $250 plus shipping to the US so I think it's fair, but please feel free to make a (reasonable) offer.

Please PM me with any questions.
