Atlanta, GA - A-VCOA Presents May 4th Portable Audio Jam - Page 3

Phill Larocco's prototype ePhi amplifier is here and this is one of the sweetest sounding amplifier in term of presentation around.  I replaced stock tubes with a pair of NOS Mullard EL34 XF2.  This is a must hear amplifier especially with the HD800.  Given its size...it is hardly fit the "portable" theme of the meet.

I've consorted with the council and we've decided we'll allow it.

I obviously have gotten the definition of Portable Audio wrong! It appears that portable audio is anything that can drive a set of headphones! The council has spoken... end of discussion. Can't wait to hear the ePhi.

BTW, I think it's hilarious at my age to be a "Junior" anything!!

Quick question: do I have to be a member of A-VCOA to attend? I have the equipment below (minus the JVC FX850 I just sold and the UE700s which are long dead thanks to an incident involving my girlfriend leaving them out where the Roomba could eat them) and wouldn't mind hearing the Fiio DAPs as well as meeting some other Atlanta-area hobbyists.

Come on out! We encourage guests.

Yes Indeed, guest are encouraged.  We'll be happy to see you.

The Fiio DAPS are a terrific listening experience in every respect.   I have almost 5,0000 flac & HRA files on the X5.  We'll have several DAPS from multiple manufacturers at the meet.  Come hear them individually on in combination with great amps, dacs, and headphones.

I can't begin to describe how cool it is to have thousands of LOSSLESS selections on one high quality audio device that will drive ANYTHING.  Headphone, line out,  and optical outputs make these devices little GEMS for the audio enthusiast.

High Resolution Audio on the go is now a reality.  Be here to hear it for yourself.

Great! I'll definitely try to make it. Have a friend in town who I'm unsure of his schedule, but hoping to make it up early-ish.

And I agree... I love having lossless files on my ZX1. Best investment I've made so far. Very curious to compare the sound of the ZX1 to the equipment Fiio is coming out with.

Well....I'll bring my zx1 to the meet as well.

I'm looking to get there around 1:00. Looking forward to it. I think that you all will be impressed with the new Oppo.

Yeah, really interested in hearing that Oppo... Wish it was closed-back though. C'est la vie.

No more closed backed hp's for me.

On the closed back front, Audio Alternative is bringing the NAD HP50 which is an affordable and portable offering.  These headphones just went on InnerFidelity's Wall of Fame with Tyl offering positive comments.

They are bringing some other great gear as well.

Fiio supplied a special treat.  Thanks, James.  We have Dr. Chesky's Ultimate Headphone Demonstration Disk loaded on both the Fiio X3 and X5.

See Jude's video review and get a discount here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Duf5vU28Pyg

This compilation has 59 tracks of some pretty phenomenal audio.  You'll really get to know the capabilities of your various headphones.

Make plans to hear it.  Chances are good you'll sign up for a copy of your own.

Awesome, been wanting to hear those HP50s anyway!!

Also, I don't have a ton of gear to bring (Leckerton UHA-6S Mk.II, iBasso D-Zero, iBasso DX50, Meier Audio PCSTEP, JDS Labs O2, and a few odds and ends like the Fiio source switcher, etc), so I don't think I'll need a table, but I thought I'd ask... Is there anybody with some free space for my stuff, or do I need to try to get a table?
