Amp/DAC suggestions for LCD-X

Thread Starter

My new pair of LCD-Xs will soon be arriving.  I was wondering if you all had some suggestions on AMPs/DACs to go with them.  I was eyeing the Bifrost Asgard 2 combo but would like some other suggestions as I've heard mixed reviews with that and the LCD phones.

Fist thing, definitely looking for something solid state at this point.  Cleaner drier highs and punchier bass.  I'll probably grab a tube amp down the line for classical listening.  As of now though, I listen to a lot of electronic, think Sphongle and Siruismo, and I'm looking for a stack to complement my tastes.  Maybe something ~$1000?  The LCD-Xs being so much easier to drive than the LCD2s-3s the DAC is probably going to mean more than the AMP;  I'm guessing.

Any suggestions are welcome as, while I have done a good bit of research, my knowledge level doesn't even begin to touch some of yours when it comes to audio and equipment.

Mods, this is a crosspost from headphones (full-size) as I did not read the rules thoroughly enough and posted in the wrong place about 24 hours ago.  Link to my first post if it should be deleted.

You should eye the lyr rather than the asgard, other than that, I can't help you out much redface.gif

Maybe shoot for an Audio GD 10.33, nice balanced amp at about $600

Audeze sells the ALO pan am.  I really liked my Pan Am with Mullard tubes.  However never heard the LCD-X with it.

I'll look into into the 10.33.  It has all the inputs/outputs!

The other ones all see to be tube amps.  I've heard mixed things about the LCDs with tube amps.  Especially the Lyr.  I guess they're already warm headphones and tubes push them over the top.  They do sell the pan am though so it must be at least decent.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I really appreciate it.
