vpi classic direct tt

I was very surprised to see a $30,000 direct drive turntable in 2014. have not heard it yet. they obviously think they have something here. most modern high end tt's are belt drive. I always thought dd could be better. perhaps they finally have the right implementation. anyone know what is special about the design? I know the plinth is well built. it also has a 3d printed arm! sign of the times? I am hoping they took 80's dj technology and brought it to the forefront. I am guessing this is more than just a sl-1200. goldmund had done this years ago, linear tracking too and now those are mostly broken relics of the past. I hope this is not a $30,000 denon either. well, I am interested in it. ill let you guys know when I listen.

listened to it. it is very good but I think 30 grand will buy even better. in fact the new sota is not that much and probably better but I did not compare them.
