Light Harmonic Geek Wave - Page 62

So, demanding a refund after you committed to fund a project is like making a run and a bank because of buyer's remorse or rumors.  If a sufficient number pursue this path then the project will fail ruining it for all of the actually committed backers.  Thanks in advance for that.  The great news is if you actually do destroy the project then you can strut around saying "I told you so."

I tried to cancel one of the orders tagged to my account, but they were pretty firm in their refusal. In the end however, I did manage to sorta 'cancel' it by using its value to translate as an upgrade for Geek Pulse.

Hmmm... I asked the same thing around 2 weeks ago but they refused...

Aren't we still around 4 months from the initially estimated delivery date for the Geek Wave?

Just because people don't understand or agree with LHL's product development strategy and even though they've made real progress in developing the core guts of the Wave (I personally got to listen to the prototype digital and analog sections at RMAF and they were great) some are having buyers remorse and want to back out? And also if you read the terms of IGG in reality we haven't been sold anything - the perks are merely gifts to thank us for our contributions.

Anyway, that's my point of view and clearly others see things differently. Also I'm pretty sure that by bringing up the concept of refunds here in the open forum it might just result in that option being closed down...

In my case, I think the value of what I eventually added to the Pulse slightly exceeded the value of what I cancelled, which I (or rather my friend) was relatively okay with.

Perhaps this was what made it possible.

They probably won't agree to a refund anyway for the reasons the last few posters have indicated. I guess the frustration to try for a refund is two-fold:
1. Being forced to upgrade from Pulse/i to /f/i because they wanted to streamline their own messy product variations.
2. Whilst waiting for the Pulse to be delivered and waiting anxiously for news and development of my Waves and a Station, I sense LH's attention being diverted to Soul and Mono this and mono that, and 2G cables etc etc.
In my heart, I've already written off my Waves and Station. If they become real products that's a bonus.

I don't plan on asking for a refund. When all is said and done, I may end up with a good product if the Geek Out is any indication. It's so hard to support them, though. Whenever I start to feel a bit conciliatory and inch towards giving them the benefit of the doubt, they announce another product unrelated to either the Wave or Pulse and I just go batschiit crazy all over again. I feel like I'm in an abusive relationship

Your last sentence sums it all up for me too.
I will not be pulling the trigger on their IEM though. It will only encourage more of that relationship!

How good can the IEMs really be? I mean they are $39 IEMs not designed or produced in house. We know they won't be good, let alone summit-fi as the Wave and Stream claim to be.
The Geek team would be upset if I called them crooks again, so I will just stop here.

They might be worth the $39 ... for an I series phone and someone that needs a crappy electret mic...

Now at what they claim to be a $159 "list", well that would put them in some decent mid-fi company, for instance the RE-400.

They had better be pretty darn good for that piece.

I thought they might make decent presents for Christmas, but if they hold form, they will not be delivered until June 2015.

Maybe for next year's gifts ???

OMG. I looked at their product page to see what this was about. Saw the endless scroll of 'variations and upgrades' and my jaw dropped. I thought I was reading 'cracked'. Are they seriously trying to develop/kickstart not one unit, (like a fiio x5) but a hundred different units/upgrades? Did they actually have all these upgrades in place on day one or was it one model on day one, then adding continuous upgrades after sucking in backers? And after this list grew like Pinochio's nose, people still kept buying into it? OMG. Like Chaka Kahn, I feel for you.

Pretty much. They have so far to go to finish the Geek Wave, too. If you look at the GW roadmap, it's hard to imagine that they will ship on time - they have so far to go and are spending inordinate amounts of time on the development of other products that were added post-GW campaign, which royally pisses me off. If they do end up releasing an excellent DAP that competes with the very best competitors have to offer (without being excessively-delayed), then I will give them a pass and have to admit that they were able to handle the juggling act they have created for themselves (although there have been serious CS issues in the early goings).

Like Currawong said, they're either gonna come up with an absolute miracle and create history, or fail spectacularly and face the greatest wrath known to mankind

I'm not convinced that there is no middle ground for them to land on....Maybe that's just wishful thinking because I don't like the idea of a company rolling the dice in such a big way. It's interesting to note that according to the latest IGG email I just received (some sort of Black Friday-related promo), they've been 'secretly' working on their new IEMs for the past 15 months...and they call them 'ultra high-definiton' earphones. They don't make Wellies tall enough for that sort of marketing...

Lol. When backed the wave I really thought they would have learnt from their Geek Pulse experience and not freaking make 600 versions of the thing, but sadly no :(.

Also it would not be so irritating if their customer support was not a total shambles. They admitted they were already behind on customer support and yet they keep introducing new products and new funding options.

Seriously WTF. Why would you start doing Geek Soul and Geek Amp before finishing the Geek Source and the Geek Bluetooth thingy? WTF.
