Hi, Im looking to buy a pair of headphones my old ones recently broke. I was using Bose ae2w I need it mostly for music ( Pop Rock and Electronic mostly ) something with good base would be nice under $200 I was looking at Sony MDR1R and ATH-M50 but what's the best in your opinion? Style I don't care about the quality of the music is everything. Around ear would be great. Thanks in advance.

Sony MDR1R is a good option. Another headphone you may be interested in, would be the new V-Moda XS. They are on ear, but designed to be extremely comfortable. But they would work best with those genres.

Another vote for the ue 6000. There is also the donscorpio dolphin. I havent heard them myself and they arent popular but the people who get them love them.

If you want more info about the donscorpio dolphin, you're going to have to go to the asian headphone thread.

I highly recommend the ATH-M50, you can find them on Amazon for around $140 to $150 bucks.

Professional audio quality, cushioned ear cup design, the frequency response is 15 - 28,000 Hz

I would not think twice buddy. I have one of my own, they rock!

I recommend the MDR-1R over M50 anytime. V-Moda XS is also a great option is you don't hold any grudge against on-ears.

Audio Technica A700/900x might be worth a look in depending on the price over there,

Looks like the marketing spiel got to you

The human ear can only hear around 20hz-20khz so frequency response numbers usually don't mean much.

If you can get the MDR-1R for under $200, then I don't see why not. They have better build quality and comfort than the M50. I like the sound on the 1R much more too.
