FiiO X7, what is your dream DAP? - Page 40

I would use it for various reason:

-as an amp for other things (like watching a movie on TV)
-maybe recording things if the line-in goes to the processor instead of to the amp stage.

-with my phone to be able to listen to music and talk on the phone without pluging / unpluging cables:
EDIT: in this drawing, the music is supposed to come from the DAP, not the phone. What comes out of the phone is just the phone conversation sound (that would take over the DAP sound or be mixed with it).

Why not just get an amplifier then?

Or, even more simple,to have directly 3-ring connectors which detects automatically if a 2-ring or 3-ring connector has been plugged (like on most phones)

My phone doesn't deliver high-res sound, nor does accept microsd (as other high en phones: nexus 5, moto g).

If a phone was good enough with an amp, nobody would buy a DAP...

Much as I would love to sell you an X7 wink.gif, I still have to point out that in the schematic you drew, you are using the proposed DAP no differently than as an amp... wink.gif Same schematic can be drawn with a simple amp in place of a DAP, and digital audio signal does not go out through the smartphone's headphone jack for decoding... wink.gif

Sorry for the confusion.
In the schematic that I drew the DAP is supposed to play the music, not the phone.

The phone signal is supposed to mix with (or take over) the DAP signal when a phone call happens.

It's not a terrible idea, but this won't appeal to enough users to make this a real feature implemented by any company that I can think of.

James-Joe,

This may be a little pre-mature but are you going to do a tour like the X5? I'm all ready pinching pennies to buy this, in my mind its a done deal even though the launch looks to be about a year out.. I'm not going to buy anything hifi until than, hopefully! Regardless, can't wait for the launch.

Size about the size of the Galaxy S4

Your trademark brushed metal case

Iphone style edges.

WiFi, USB 3.0 support

Fast card reader/writer (hate having to take out the card on the X3)

Support for HDMI output for multichannel audio

Very responsive and fast (X3 feels a bit sluggish)

Dual SD card slots with a much larger file limit at least 10,000 songs.

Tag Editor built in, ability to get album artwork for songs you don't have any for. (Sometimes when playing back a song I just want to edit the track title on the fly due to some weird capitalization)

Line Out at +4dbu (Professional level)

and  a Line-In (Would be nice to be able to link it to some other source and use a built in amp on the "X7"

Also, placing cellphone near a DAP is an EMI nightmare. It will be like 2 steps forward and 3 steps back.

I know this is asking to much, but it would be nice to see a DAP with a mSATA drive. I think the mSATA is a little bigger than an SD card and it currently support up to 1TB. The card read and write speed is over 200MB/s.

is it possible to add modern DSP chip for EQ and other digital signal processing?

That will be kind of redundant in front of a powerful SoC and Android.
