FiiO X7, what is your dream DAP? ( updated on 7/11/2014) - Page 31

James, if You planning X7 with dual slot - consider solution like "unionfs" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UnionFS ) - to always "see" memory as one, even with two memory cards.

you guys can still use micro sd cards with normal SD slots. You can use adapters. Do you remember the SD card sized adapter that comes with micro SD cards? you can use them if you really love micro SD cards. Please agree on dual SD card slot set up. This must happen along with Wifi file streaming capability.

Please justify this request. This is a portable player, adding SD card will use up space that could be used for other features or more compact.  SD cards tend to be a generation ahead of MicroSD (Current SD card 256GB, Current microSD Card 128GB). Which might be the reason why you might want SD card in the player.

Actually I would have to agree with Kawaivpc1. If there would be minimal impact on the size of the device, I would prefer regular SD card slots over micro. But there must still be two.

sorry not SD card but Micro SD card, there are not so many room for the big SD slot.  we have to try to put a 3.97 inch screen with a 5000mAh battery into X7.

thanks, maybe only one Micro SD slot, all depended on the build in memory.

I don't get this. Are you against or not about the SD card thing? Also, he is not "trolling" at all.

And, OT, that 5000mAH battery sounds good. How many hours of playback would have the player with that battery? I still think that's sad that good SQ and good autonomy are incompatible.

Against SD. They can fit 2 micoSD in place of a SD card. The speed is about the same. I cant see the benefits of a SD.

Price and storage I guess. And they aren't as easy to lose as a microSD :p

dude,  two SD cards can go up to 512 GB and the price will be about 220 dollars for all. two micro SD cards can give you 256GB max and the price is about the same.

What's the point of making micro SD slots when you can still use micro SD cards with normal SD card slots with adapter?

IF you love micro SD cards, you can still use them with normal SD card slots.

Agreed.

Indeed, regular SD can offer much greater storage capacity than microSD. I suspect SD cards are easier to manufacture, too, and I've seen evidence that SD is more robust and reliable than microSD. Still, I can't say so conclusively.

I understand that incorporating two full-size SD slots is not feasible, but I wish the X7 would include one slot each for SD and microSD.

Kind regards,

Brian

Come on.. X7's size will be big enough to accommodate two SD cards.

Actually you are wrong about the SD card technology. SDXC (SD and Micro SD that support 64gb and above) cards can support up to 2tb. So the Micro SD card will eventually have 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB options available. The X7 is supposed to be portable. Which means weight and the dimensions of the production unit must be somewhat portable. I would agree with having an SD card in a non-portable DAP. Another thing to concider is 99% of all tablets and smartphones with expandable memory chose to use MicroSD.
