I'm not that into streaming, but probably many others out there are. I just stated about my own preference and will still keep an eye on the X7 as long as I haven't spend the money on another dap. 256gb microsd cards unfortunately also will be pretty expensive by launch :o

If you don't mind I'll move on whenever I feel I'm ready for that step

Hey no problem

I'm just amused by the "X7 must have this feature or it will flop" type of comments - and my comments weren't targeting you or anyone else specifically.  Fiio's already stated the basics - yet people keep dropping along with the "must have" comments.  I find it amusing.  Especially the thought that the 2nd storage card is going to cost them squillions of users.  It might cost them a few sure - but the addition of wifi/B-T will gain them plenty more.

We don't have access to a lot of streaming services (yet) - but I personally like the idea of having the option when that support comes.

Yes, I have an X5 (use it everyday)

Yes, I have realized (and also do understand) that FiiO has focussed on streaming.

But I don't understand why you have to use a word like whining. It comes across (to me at least) like: “if you don't like this decision, just ***** off to another dap/thread''. Replying can also be done in a kind way like Brooko just did.

One of my favourite annecdotes:

At ''Later with Jools'' (best music program ever imo) one of the Charlatans (UK band) stepped up to a pretty rude and moody Van Morrison and said to him: ''Hey Mr, it's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice'' :p

Because out of the many people that I know, I know of no one that wants to listen to music for 20 plus straight hours.  No one.  Not a single person.  If it was more common than what it is, the statistical chances are that I'd know someone who wanted to do so.

Unsolicited advise:
Out of THE country? That can only mean USA? Get a passport, NOW, travel and see different countries, sell your music players and headphones, go see the world. There is a whole WORLD out there outside your own country. It's mindblowing. Go on a Safari in Africa, see India, Europe, Asia, Australia or New Zealand, anything, cultures and buildings that are thousands of years old. Really, I swear it's better than Disneyland. You will have memories and experiences nobody can ever take away from you, better than any physical possession. It will change you for the better. BURN IN your travel plans ;-)

Millions of people travel everyday in planes, MILLIONS.  2014 for the first time saw more than 100,000 flights a day. That's pretty amazing.

On another note, most of the airlines are offering now USB sockets in the seats to charge your devices.

Cheers,

K

The topic has been repeated many times in this thread which makes the "word" an appropriate description. It's funny you want people off the thread who are interested but have no issues for those who are :deadhorse:

Let's not make the thread unnecessary long unless there is something "NEW" to discuss. Shall we.

That is true. then it should apply with storage as well don't you think? We are talking about a DAP which you are most likely to use while travelling. So why having bigger storage is better than longer battery life? storage is virtually unlimited even with a single microSD slot.

I beg to differ - I have a small CD collection, and 256GB is barely enough for me, and doesn't allow me to grow.  I don't want to cart around microSD cards - they're easy to damage and lose.  I want to put all my music on my player's in built memory and a memory card and leave it at that.  Less risk of things going wrong.  AK's manual doesn't even recommend ejecting and inserting microSD cards too many times due to potential damage of the slot mechanism.  I strongly suspect that more people who are looking at a DAP would want storage than excessively long battery life.

More battery life means a larger battery, which leaves little room for amps/DACS/storage and general control electronics.  I don't want a huge brick to carry around (hell, the fiio x7 is going to be far larger physically than I want to be honest).  I want something that's petite and easy to carry in a pocket.  I recently went from an iPhone 4s to a Samsung Galaxy S4 (crap phone imho, but that's another story) and the difference in size between the 2 is enough to make it uncomfortable for me to have it in my trouser pocket.  Storage increases aren't going to take up additional space inside the unit, unlike battery increases.

Battery technology sucks.  It really does.  It's terrible.  It's one of the few things that technology hasn't really advanced in over the past 20 odd years imho.

No, I don't live in the US (swing and a miss).  I live in Australia.  I've seen a lot of my beautiful country and travelled more than most over the past 25 years (within Australia).  I have no real interest in going overseas, sorry.  Extended periods in a small airplane cabin would drive me crazy as I have an intense dislike of small spaces.  Worse, I have problems with my ears not properly de-compressing, and that makes it VERY painful for me.

i'm lazy so i don't wanna have to charge almost everyday, if i had a choice then i'd take larger battery over storage.

For the record: I wrote ''It comes across (to me at least) like: “if you don't like this decision, just ***** off to another dap/thread''.

So, I don't want anybody off this thread myself and am sincerely interested in everybody's opinion over here!

storage is an easy fix to others and a matter of convenience. How many albums/songs can you fit in a 128GB card that would make you change so often?

On the other hand battery life is not easy to fix especially for a non-removable and it will only get worse over time.

Oh, I am sorry to hear that. Yeah, hit and miss, haha, I figured it must be from someone with a large country. The small spaces thing would also rule out travel by boat. But I see you made the best out of it. So, apologies for assuming too much!

All good  :normal_smile :

I haven't done a lot of travelling in Australia in recent years, but in my younger years, my best mate and myself would go on road trips every year.  That's a lot of bush walking and national parks, and some fishing, and lots of photography.  Australia has so much beauty that I don't really need to want to travel!

That said, I wanna go to New Zealand in the next few years when funds allow - it's not a huge trip, isn't expensive and it's also a very beautiful country.

I try to limit travelling on planes due to the pain that it causes me.  The last time I did so, I lost all hearing in my Right ear for nearly 2 days after landing...it was very frustrating!

I like to be able to carry my entire library on the go.  My current 256GB storage limit on my AK 120 II is about 20GB shy of being full.  When ripping to flac, that's probably about 40 albums.  I buy a lot of music on CD, so it won't take me long to fill it up.  That's why storage and future storage is important to me.

Even using my AK 120 II for my daily commute, I get 4-5 days usage out of it.  That suits me just fine.  As I said earlier, I strongly suspect that many people who use DAPs are like me - they use it during the commute to and from work.  If you use a DAP non stop for 8 hours a day, then no DAP on the planet is *ever* going to satisfy you imho.  You'll be recharging every day...

I'm not saying I don't want to see better battery life, don't get me wrong.  I'm simply saying that I value storage more than battery life, and that i strongly suspect that many will agree with me on this topic.
