FiiO X7 | DXD | DSD | 384K/64B | ESS9018+ Android | WiFi | Bluetooth | 4 AMP modules | Balanced Out | - Page 181

The design on the first page is also the one I prefer over the final, but I can comprehend why FiiO chose it over their first draft.

Besides that, I'm wondering how the interchangeable DAC and Amp modules will be attached to the X7's body. If they are only plugged in, there might be stability issues.

The DAC is not interchangeable, only the amp.

A bunch of pages before, I just read that the two micro SD slots were reduced to only one for better battery life. Imo, that's disappointing.

For me, the launch of the X7 will be like this:

I would agree.  I'd rather have a shorter  battery life than storage.  My AK 120 II has 128GB inbuilt, and with an added 128GB microSD I'm *only* just fitting in all of my music.  And I have a smallish CD library compared to many...1 microSD slot is NOT enough under any circumstances imho.

Dave

edit: I usually get 4-5 days out of my AK 120 II's battery - with around 2 hours per day usage on public transport.  charging my unit every 4 or 5 days isn't a deal breaker to me, and I can't imagine why others would need longer batter life than that.  I guess if you're listening for very long stings in one listening session, perhaps, but how many people do that?  Most people using a DAP will be like myself - using it on public transport commutes for 2-4 hours per day.

totally true.

and the ability of taking more music with you is so needed on a good DAP.

Now that there are dsd and hdtracks coming out, there is simply not enough space if you don't take more music with you.

Also, as long as it does not die after 8 hours of music, battery is enough. it has plenty. i don't think that there are flights longer than 8 hours at once. and even if there are, once can buy an external battery, and be happy ever after.

I am the one who only would love to see more microsd slots, and more battery. and better amp and better DAC. i cannot care less for other things, i really have a gread phone for that.

what the user above stated would had been great, to put in better components, but in the end would cost more without adding much more enjoyment out of the player.

So you have never been on a charter flight from Tel Aviv to L.A. 12 hours from Tel Aviv to New Ark > 50 minute stop to pass the border control and recheck the luggage and board another 5 hour connection flight to L.A. More than 17 hours in total.

Yep....I also like the smell of 2 microsd slots in the morning (looking at my beloved X5)

Just because of this I'll probably end up with another dap in the end :o

Btw, that rocket launch movie is really hilarious :D

I'm a frequent long haul flyer - but I've yet to meet anyone on long haul who'll listen to music solid for anything approaching 11-12 hours.  Just because the flight is that long does not mean your music listening will be.  Whilst extra battery life would be great - the reality is that 10-11 hours is going to be fine for most people's uses.  Given the interchangeable amp modules, I'm guessing total battery life is going to be very dependent on what headphones you're driving and which module is in play.

As far as storage vs use of wifi/bluetooth goes, I think Fiio is actually doing a pretty good job of satisfying both audiences.  Lets face it - they have a global market, and if they can satisfy those looking for their own storage (256Gb cards shouldn't be too far away after all) plus those who would like to stream - isn't that better in the long run for everyone?

If its not - move on, spend your megabucks for a DAP that satisfies your particular needs.  I personally like Fiios approach.

But you aren't listening to music all the time, are you?

Everything above 5h continuous playback time is fine (imho).

I was listening to music most of the time cause I couldn't fall asleep and was trying to ignore my girlfriend's nagging me about every turbulence we had along the flight.

Yep, I understand your pov: different people, different preferences right?

I'm not that into streaming, but probably many others out there are. I just stated about my own preference and will still keep an eye on the X7 as long as I haven't spend the money on another dap. 256gb microsd cards unfortunately also will be pretty expensive by launch :o

If you don't mind I'll move on whenever I feel I'm ready for that step

I've never been out of the country and have no real desire to travel.  I suspect you are a very tiny minority.  I suspect that more people would want more storage than more battery life.  In a perfect world, we could have both.  But - we don't live in a perfect world sadly.

I am amaze the whining about single microSD slot hasn't die yet. Just get the X5 already if that is all you care about. X7 obviously do not cater to your specific need but definitely will for others. Having dual microSD slot on X7 gets in the way with how Fiio wants to position X7. If you have not realized by now. It is already :deadhorse:

wifi/bluetooth are a required item imho.  If fiio fail to include these, they *will* lose quite a fair few sales imho.  They'd be fools to not do so.

How did you come up with that assumption?
