Sennheiser RS220 with laptop

Thread Starter

Hi, I'm new to headphone and I'm planning to buy a Sennheiser RS220 to use with my laptop.

I will connect the RS220 with my laptop using SPDIF minitoslink-toslink.

Besides enjoying the music, sometimes I'll watch some movies.

I googled that this RS220 cannot support Dolby and DTS is it mean if I watch movie with dolby and DTS it will have no sound?

Normally Im using VLC to watch my movie.

Thanks

I believe you must set VLC (and/or your computer) to output a digital stereo signal through the mini-TOSLINK. Hence VLC or something else in the computer must decode dolby or DTS and downmix multichannel to stereo.
