Schlocky Speaker Success Stories

Thread Starter

I figure I'm not the only one that's found the occasional diamond in the rough in terms of the crap budget speakers you can find at Goodwill and other thrift stores. I also figure that, this being an audio-focused community, success stories like these can be a lot of fun!

Today, I found and cleaned up a pair of Technics SB-K24's that I found at a local thrift shop.

I have them hooked up to my Onkyo TX-SR606 currently, and they're not sounding half bad! They could do with a new crossover and some new damping, but I only paid 21 dollars for the set!

So yeah, feel free to share any stories about budget equipment that's either surprised you or served you well or whatever!

I got a pair of Klipsch Heresy Ⅱs, in unfinished wood, $20 for the pair at Goodwill many moons ago. Believe this was before the Ⅲs were introduced. Played the crap out of those speakers for years, giving them to a friend soon… pay it forward and all that junk, y'know… ;)

For a long time, the majority of my equipment was Goodwill and pawn shop finds, but that was the deal that really took the cake…
