Or maybe your new Stax amp lets you hook to a headphone connection?

How powerful a speaker amp do you need?  I have a TA2020 based Tripath amp that I could bring that puts out around 10W into 8ohms.  Not the last word in sound quality, but it is a pleasant listen with decent bookshelf speakers.  Looking online it seems that just some speaker wire is all that would be necessary for the SR-6, so if you didn't have anything suitable, I can easily bring something to use at the meet.

I am using a Technics SU-V98 Integrated Stereo Amp at home, which is 110W/channel into 8 ohms.  However, that is way much... I'm sure that anything that drives a speaker to a half-way decent volume would work for this (and if it didn't, no big deal).  I think the speaker amp you mention will be just fine.

Indeed you hook up to it with speaker wires, which I will have on the back of the Stax - just need four clips or terminals to fasten them to.

Thanks!

Can anybody go? I live in Plymouth Mi and would like to hear the Directstream. Will the demo include speakers?

You are welcome but there is no facilities for speakers as the room is all headphones. If it does not sound good out of the RSA A-10 with Stax SR-009 then I would have second thoughts.

I just got a note from Oppo  (I had emailed them a while back about demos for the meet) indicating that they will have a representative attending!  They will be bringing a couple PM-1s and a couple HA-1s.

You just took my Thunder.  I just finished PMing with Christopher Vick from OPPO Digital and they will be at our meet.  They are donating a certificate for their new PM-2 which will have a retail price of $699.  Thank you OPPO Digital.

I should also thank FraGGleR for the initial contact as I am sure that helped.

I have been using a Monoprice cable to good effect, but have been eyeing this one as an upgrade: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Valab-Optical-Fiber-Optic-Digital-Toslink-Audio-Cable-Male-3-5mm-mini-/251540675179?pt=US_Audio_Cables_Adapters&hash=item3a90fe1a6b

I have had a great experience with the connectors that I have bought from them so assume the cable would be solid as well.  I think Audioquest has a 3.5 to toslink for mid $60s as well.

Ok cool, I will bring it.  It is banana plug only right now, but if I have time, I might re-case it with 5-way binding posts.

On Song Audio Distribution, the US distributor for Allnic Audio Headphone amps as well as the midwest distributor for Calyx Audio will be at our meet showcasing the Allnic Audio HPA 5000 and HPA 3000 headphone amplifiers being fed with the Calyx Audio Femto DAC.  It is basically the set up Chris had at Axpona this year.  I look forward to hearing this setup.

That is awesome news. If love to listen to the PM-1. And if the PM-2 is voiced the same Way using less premium materials, I may be all in. I've been watching the PM-2, it may yet replace my T1.

Sounds like they won't have the PM-2 at the show, which stinks, but that makes sense since they still want to sell the PM-1 first.
