Since Dan Clark won't be coming, is there anyone out there with a pair of Alpha dogs? I was really looking forward to hearing these cans...

Someone on the list was bringing them, I know. Check pages 2 and 6 for the list of what everyone is bringing.

cogitoergosam is bringing one.

The Pandora VI's fell through, but I'm thinking about trying the IV's.

Boo! I was looking forward to getting a chance to meet him. Oh well, things happen that are unavoidable. Maybe at a future meet.

Do you have the Clarinet or the Black Pearl version of the Alpha Dogs?  I am so tempted by the Black Pearl, if nothing more than to have a match with my speakers finish. :normal_smile :

I just saw this... thanks  to Claritas changing his avatar to something that looked like a blue Eskimo yo-yo (two biscuit-sized caribou-skin furballs joined by about 6 feet of string... I have several pairs from Alaska) and my trying to track down his new avatar!

Eskimo Yo Yos

So I am rearranging my calendar with hopes of driving from Michigan, starting bright and early Saturday morning!  Never been to one, and a relative noobie here, so I can be the one you send to the other more experienced Head-Fi'ers to ask them for a Headphone Stretcher!!

I plan to bring:

  • HiFiMan HE-500
  • Grado PS500
  • NAD VISO hp 50
  • Sennheiser HD 598
  • AKG K712 (on order, not yet received, but should have by then)
  • FiiO E12 (Alpine) amp.

If there is interest (just let me know) I could also bring:

  • Stax SR-5 with SR6 transformer (this is a 1970s vintage electrostatic, but often appears on eBay for $150 - it is the best sounding of my collection but light on bass) - but I'd need someone to supply a speaker connection and source, as it runs off of the speaker connections, not the headphone jack;
  • Parrot Zik wireless / active noise cancelling
  • Shure SE535 IEMs
  • Philips Fidelio S2 IEMs
  • Beats Pro
  • Beats Studio (the new improved 2013 version)
  • Beats Studio Wireless (again, the 2013 version)
  • Sennheiser PXC 310 BT (their folding on-ear bluetooth active noise cancelling hp that folds into your shirt pocket).

This hits at a good time, as I am planning on spending some significant $$ on a Sennheiser HD 800 and suitable amp in July, so I am looking forward to trying FraGGleR's modified and Dubstep Girl's normal HD 800 that I see listed as planning to come.

Oops sorry missed that on the list.

And kayandjohn I would be interested in the Parrot Zik!

OK, I'll bring the Zik Parrots (as well as the iPod app that provides equalization, virtual changing of concert hall reverb, and angle subtended of the source, from right ahead of you to all around you).

That's how it's supposed to work, I guess. It was Audio Addict's idea and Fraggler's design.

It'll be great to meet in person. Looking forward to hearing your PS500 too.

The PS500...I have a very special relationship with that headphone...

When Dan announced the black, I was tempted by them, but I am so glad I went with the claret finish. It's absolutely gorgeous.

Pay no attention to the man in the reflection. He's an ass.

If you count the day I signed up for the upgrade list, I waited more than 3 months for them, and they are worth the wait. I know a bunch of upgrades are still waiting that signed up shortly after I did. I got in fairly early. 4 days from order date is an insane delivery time in comparison. Props to MrSpeakers for really beefing up their manufacturing process.

Will do... do you think there will be someone with a source capable of driving speakers that I can plug the Stax SR-5 into?  Or should I start looking at the backs of my boom boxes for speaker connections? (the Stax SR6 transformer that drives the SR5 headphones, requires driving by a speaker signal, not headphone jack).

Or maybe your new Stax amp lets you hook to a headphone connection?

I'm sure Fraggler could hook you up with an adapter. I would, but I won't be able to make it anymore :/
