So far, my options are :

Schiit Vali (new) - 120$ + Shipping / Taxes

Musical Fidelity X-Can V2 (used) - 180$ Cash

What would guys choose? Any other suggestion?

What I listen to : soundtracks, country, classic, metalcore, power metal, rock, trance, some dubstep / chillstep / rap.

What are you using for a DAC?

I don't have any, im using the onboard sound on my gigabyte ITX board which if I recall correctly is the ALC892. I'm definetely considering the Asus Xonar U3 though.

I have the GA-Z87N-WIFI board.

Would a DAC be Worth it or would the Xonar U3 do the job?

Asus Xonar U3 do not have a very powerful headphone amplifier.

The Creative Labs Omni 5.1 external sound card or Sound Blaster Z sound card (PCI-E).

Or a Asus Xonar DX or D1 sound card (PCI-E) combined with an external headphone amplifier, should provide good audio quality.

I'm using the Vali with my DT880 250 ohm. I think the two have a great synergy. The Vali warms up the DT880 the perfect amount IMO.

Thanks, the Omni 5.1 could be a good choice but I don't have any free PCI slot on mobo (there's already a GTX 760 in the only slot the mobo has).

For now I just want to get a decent amp and decide what DAC to get if any, My budget is quite limited.
