Oppo PM-1 Planar Magnetic Headphone Impressions Thread - Page 52

The oppo team really must have paid attention to younger ears with sensitivity to sibilance,
as this PM-1 has played my most worrisome tracks with the nimbleness of a ninja to pull this off..(!)
Nothing sounds bad thru this unit so far..(!)
Haven't gone thru much break in period yet either..

I'm on the same page Maxx.  These cans can do no wrong.

Hnng so much actual positive impressions from people who ACTUALLY have it.

God, I want these.

I'm interested to hear from those who own it, what amps are working well. Possibly stronger desktop amps don't work well.

You're going to have to change your signature ;-)

Seems a little overboard, but basically he is correct in enthusiasm.
I could not leave home without these.
Will have them on all day at work and so far so good.
Noise leakage is minimal compared to most other open cans.
I can and do hear outside sounds of course, but surprisingly with sound at 80% of my loudness tolerance,
O hardly hear anything outside..

Thanks excellent article, not surprised about the impression, the price though just to remember this is for UK, much cheaper in the US.

"these headphones are designed to take a music source and reproduce the sound with absolutely sonic perfection. And for me, they achieve it in glorious fashion."

That pretty much sums it up.

Hype off the wall in here, how good are these really... my wallet is cowering. Be interesting when the first full comparative reviews come out. I think I'm two weeks from buying a pair of these - itching to get them - they sound perfect for my needs.

I'll be waiting in the station till these meet the 560 hype train and see what the outcome is :]

personally, I think that when the PM-2 comes out,
It will be the best practical financial choice for many down the road.
If the sonics stay at this level of finesse.
I didn't need all this extravagance with the box but oh well

It's absolutely a delight to look at and it vanishes when on my head. The sound? Good.....maybe great. At least very enjoyable. But ironically, all I can think of after 3 hours on my head is how good they make my HD-650s sound and feel. That is NOT what I expected.

As in your HD650 holds up well in sound and comfort compared?

As long as the pm2 also comes with a pair of velours...

Just wrapping up the half of my review for the velour pads, I'll likely have it finished by Sunday, but I'm also adding a section for the leather pads, so next Sunday I should have a full write up. I think I've found a flaw though, which I can not say that I've experienced in any headphone. The mids are rather forward and I find that they sometimes cover up the midbass. I imagine that it's due to the forward mids and neutral bass.

Exactly.
