Oppo PM-1 Planar Magnetic Headphone Impressions Thread - Page 219

Nice description of the treble.

The PM-1 offer a modicum--a "just-right" amount--of HF sparkle AFAIAC.

Lots of treble detail without undue treble emphasis/brightness nor roll-off.

[And I LIKE bright headphones.]

I agree.  They are definitely not dark to my ears.  "Smooth" is the word! :)

I decided to go for the HA-1. When pairing the HA-1 with a PM-1 or PM-2, do any of you notice any difference between the single and balanced output? A couple people I trust mentioned that they notice no difference, and I just want to double check so I don't regret passing on a balanced cable.

I have a PM-2 and am using a Forza balanced cable with my Rok. I feel with balanced cable, I can hear something I haven't heard or recognised when using SE. The dynamics seems better as well. Prior to this, I was using an adapter so I can connect my SE cable to the balanced socket of Rok as the SE output is not on par with the balanced one. Now, this may also be because I am using a different cable than the SE, I don't know but I am more satisfied using the balanced cable. YMMV of course.

Just a head's up, but starting today we will start to sell refurbished PM-1 Planar Magenetic Headphones for $799.00 (plus shipping). We include everything with the refurbished purchase, including the wood box!

NO WAY?!  That's an awesome price for refurbs!

It is a great price if you were looking for the PM-1 and price was "no object", caveats not withstanding.

Yes.

But aren't the cables/pads extra?

Only if you bought them separately or as replacements. The PM-1 ships with three sets of earpads (leather, alternative leather, and velour), a 1.1m and 3m audio cable, the denim carrying case and the wood display box.

Wow!

Now THIS is [such] a deal!!!

Not that I regret getting my pair in April of last year, but the phrase, "All good things come to those who wait..." surely seems appropriate!!

Awesome deal for an amazing headphone!

It would have taken less time to actually just click the link that you quoted.
(sorry but someone had to say it)

I've tested HA-1 via PM-1 for few days, and I think, in this case, balance is a must go option if you are really chasing sound quality wise.

The different is easily noticeable, everything just become cleaner and bigger.
