They sound open and airy on open and airy recordings. If you want everything to sound open and airy? Go buy a headphone that is colored that way.

So you're saying that there are recordings that are airless?

Yes we have dark and bright mastering but to say there are recordings that don't have air is something I don't agree with...

Unless you really assume that air is coloration, with which I agree only partly.

I think bottom line is, every recording should have some degree of air and certain headphones either enhance it or not, or decrease the amount.

Either of which can be taken as coloration IMO...

Are you saying all recordings sound open and airy?

Anyway, you haven't heard the PM-1 so...

I am saying we don't really have any definition of what a "natural" amount of air is.

What is natural for you might be too little/much for me/others.

I am talking in general, not relating to a particular recording... Of course there's varying degree of air in them, but I am talking [irregardless]about what the "right amount" is, or we think is, might wary.

I should be picking up a pair of these in the very near future, I've been eyeing them ever since I've first seen their sensitivity and being lighter. Sounds right up my alley in terms of sound signature.

Devils Advocate - some electronic wouldn't have much air in the same way that other genre might

That might be personal preference, get the phones and decide for yourself!  Your comments are just perceived!

Well, what's not perceived and personal preference? ;)

I am more eyeing the PM-2 I guess, if anything :D

But right now I am enraged by the EU pricing

I'll have to think about it

You probably have more posts in this thread than people that actually have the PM-1!  You keep making comments about what you read in this thread, not by experience with your own impressions!

Only proves that if I had them, I'd post about them! Oppo's fault for making the availability and pricing in EU ridiculous [IMO].

I love writing about the gear I have and am willing to share as much info as I can!

What other choice I have right now than going by what people say [and what I make of it]?

You really need to read and comprehend entire posts, not just selected words from them...

Fine, but you don't know anything about the PM-1 so please stop confusing everybody on this thread.

Oh Man.... I thought he had popped to the shop to buy a pair as we hadn't heard him whining for a day or so. I recon he doesn't actually want them now as he would have to eat his words (perceived of course)

Fair enough, I am outta here

Geez, you "This PM-1 Is Perfect" guys can be pretty mean and hostile :(

Guess people are not allowed to assume "different impressions" in an impressions thread without being booed at

Regardless, enjoy your "perfect" headphone!

I don't find one difference between 0 hours and the 200+ I had on both betas, the same is holding true for the retail I have with over 100 hours.

Psychological burn-in, sure. My brain needed time to adjust, that's about it.

For me there's a big difference with the bass, now I have the impression that the bass is very very close to the LCD-2 and that wasn't the case at the beginning when I plugged them for the first time.
