Oppo PM-1 Planar Magnetic Headphone Impressions Thread - Page 79

Glad you guys are enjoying them. Only downside is that eventually you have to shut off the music to go to sleep or go to work :(

Well, I'm retired so I don't have to work, and I may never sleep again....well maybe with the PM-1 playing in my ears!

How long as these taking from order date to shipping? Can someone please post a picture of the cable full length?

If the hp stand from Oppo had a brushed aluminum top frame instead of plastic, it would look sick!!

Agreed! I got mine today and have to say, I really know now why people who actually own them rolleyes.gif are gushing about them. I have been listening via MDac into HP8 tube amp and I am blown away how good they are straight out the box. Listening now to Ray LaMontagne Trouble album and vocals are very emotional and intimate. Not understanding why people are saying they are lacking in treble? To my ears these are spot on...

Of course, on top of the fact they are a fine sounding phone, great even. They really do give pride of ownership, the package is just very special. High quality all the way, sound included. For what these offer in comparison to the likes of the LCD3 they are bang for buck. For me they are bridging the gap between the LCD3 and HD800. I like the LCD3 a lot but in comparison to the PM-1 it's not great value for money and the HD800 is just too picky regarding genre and amplification. If you get the sweet spot it is amazing but the PM-1 is very close to that sweet spot with pretty much everything. They just fade away in terms of comfort also, maybe not as comfortable as the HD800 but a close second in my opinion. They clamp harder but the pads are super soft.

It's a keeper already for sure.

All you who don't own it but want to hate it because of the numbers/graphs etc...hate away biggrin.gif

Order fulfillment is done usually same day (before 3:00PM PST) if not the next day. Standard shipping is FedEx Ground. You can choose faster options.

The cable itself is 3m if you are wondering about its length. Is there anything in particular you want to see about the cable?

EDIT: Page 5 of the PM Users Manual has a rendering which shows the major details of the 3m OCC cable included with the PM-1.

I haven't tried them since about beta 2 during the test phase. I didn't like them as well then. I've been curious, so I'll test drive this weekend and report back.

Thank you kindly for the response. I'm really looking forward to putting these to the test. :D

Guess I'm one of the few that doesn't like them that much frown.gif Got mine a couple days ago and I think they went a bit overboard with the treble roll-off...they sound too closed and dark for me.

That said, I think they are a way better package than the LCD2...it's just that at this price I'm not willing to live with its flaws..got plenty of warm headphones already (at much lower prices).

Eagerly awaiting the HE-560 smily_headphones1.gif

edit: the whole package, build quality, comfort is awesome though...also cool they included a 1\8 cable..even though as some said its stupid short...

I'm sure that I am one of many looking forward to hearing your opinion.  Just look at your feedback history and you can see that you have pretty much tried everything :)  And if you end up keeping them, that would be a huge testament to Oppo ;)

What other high-end headphones do you have experience of?

I've auditioned most highend stuff but ownership only LCD3, HD800. I'd say my favorite headphone is the LCD3, comfort being the deal breaker (I wear headphones 8-10 hours a day).

I got rid of both BTW.

Was the lcd3 too heavy or just poorly distributed weight? I love the sound of the lcd3. I'm hoping that the pm-1 will just be somewhere in the ballpark between the hd650 and lcd3. Yes, I realize that there is a lot of territory there.
