Saw this posted today, some info both on PM-1,PM-2 and HA-1

I was just on the phone with Oppo and they told me that I will be able to use my Schiit Mjolnir with the PM-1s.  (The guy said that the maximum power that they are recommending is 8.0W)

Their balanced cable for the PM-1s will be available on their website in about 2 weeks.

Oh, and their customer support is really good so far.

I'm using speaker taps on my integrated tube amp with 10 ohm/10watt resistors in place, output is 5 watts per channel.  Just got the PM-1, sound fantastic.  Treble is great, female vocals, "Holly Westernra", have never sounded better, details, details, don't hear a thing missing in the highs at all.  Holly Westernra, "Celtic Treasures", "Shenandoah", lead in with crickets in the background, and the fade out distant drummers, all there.  Very good positioning/imaging with the little details, going through my test tracks.  Vocals inparticular, seem to be in different type of separate space, than other phones I have heard, including my T1.  I am not listening with the stock cable however, so I may hear differently.  I have 8 high end cables that I have setup with detachable mini xlr's and adapters to the 2.5 mm plugs into the earcups.  Listening now to Jenna Labs Ultrawire 22 awg, probably the best OCC wire available to DIY.  I have lots of other cables to try at some point as well, but I don't want what I hear to be confusing to myself right now.  I am getting a soundstage, IMO, at least as bit as my T1. vocals have so much emotion, in fact I would describe the presentation as a whole, very emotional, full of detail, all in the correct location.  Listening to "Love Hurts", "Gram Parsons and Emmylou Harris", where Gram is wide left, and Emmylou wide right, and Emmylou's part on other phones, did not sound as distant with the PM'1.  Their voices really sound blended together well with the PM-1.  Only been a couple of hours on these, but the cable has a couple hundred hours on it, so that part of burn in may be making a difference.  I really like these so far...I had the HE-4, HE-500 and HE-6 for audition here as well, and these offer something different than the Hifiman HP's.  Nothing to complain about at all.....went right for the velours, don't know about the on ear feel of the earpads, ok for now!

Listening to the bass, seems to me it is there as natural as can be, not as overpowering as the hifiman phones I have heard can be.  Just natural sounding, with good bass detail.  To me not too much, not too little, from previous impressions I was thinking the bass would be too much for me, I like it a little more neutral as in the PM-1 that I am listening to.  I think the soundstage is deeper, and more 3D, comparing to the hifiman.  The mids are closer to where the T1 puts them, IMO, better than the T1 sound.  Everything I hear on the PM-1, very natural sounding.  If I would have had these before the T1 that I repurchased for the second time a few weeks ago, it would be a hard decision of which to purchase at the time.  The sound is so open and full on my setup, "Que Bonito", by "Jose Padilla", "Cafe Del Mar", one of my favorite test tracks, sound is in a huge space, height, width and depth, very clean and clear!

I am afraid that by the end of this weekend, I may decide I do not need the Hifiman HE-560 that I have on preorder........did I say that?????  The release of the HE-560 may have taken too long for me!!!!!!!!

Oh my......Hank Jr. has just kicked in from the test playlist, he may be right here in the room!  Great job Oppo!

Sounds like the honeymoon period to me... Something I know very well myself :D

Glad you're really liking them, but I wouldn't consider that your final judgment ;)

Alas, we need a versus!

Great impressions cute!

I'm hearing the same glorious sound on my side, the bass is deeper than yesterday and the soundstage is now slightly larger than the LCD-X.

The highs are smooth as butter and I can hear more details than with the LCD-2 Rev.2.  (I will repeat what I said yesterday, the PM-1s are NOT darker than the LCD-2 Rev.2)

Oh and I forgot to mention that I think that the mids are probably as good as the mids of the LCD-3.  (The PM-1s will let you hear all those smooth, creamy and crunchy electric tones.)

I bought my JH13s in 2009 and the honeymoon period is still not over ;)

I don't see why the honeymoon period wouldn't last that long with my PM-1s..

For me first impressions are always right, It took me 24 hours to put my HE-500 up for sale, and about the same for my HE-6 to be returned.  I am sure I will cancel my preorder for the HE-560.  The PM-1 and T1 will do nicely thank you!  Peter Bradstock who owns Doublehelixcables compares them to his LCD3.  I liked the Alpha Dogs too, just had problems wearing them for more than 30 minutes, had to sell them!

I was skeptical of the PM-1, cancelled my first order about a week or so ago.  When the HE-560 still wasn't released this week, I decided to try again with the Oppo's, and I am very, very glad I did!

@aamefford, what did you think of the velour pads, I would call it velvet, because it is better than any velour pad I have ever tried?

What is with you and your constant negativity and scepticism on something you know nothing about? Give it a rest....let 'em enjoy their new phones...sheesh

Glad you guys are enjoying them. Only downside is that eventually you have to shut off the music to go to sleep or go to work :(
