I mean, anything brighter than a HD800 and anything darker than an LCD-2 wouldn't be acceptable to many of us anyways. "Where in the middle?" is the critical question. To me, HD600 is right in the middle, pretty much neutral except for the bass. I very much would hope that the PM-1 is that neutral, though some reviewers report that it's not the case. So I guess what we need is a comparison between PM1 and HE-6, or HE-560, or even the HE-500. To me, even the HE-500 highs sound a tad recessed around 2-6KHz, and the frequency response figures reflect that fact.

I am not going to make any more detailed comparisons until I get my DAC in the system where my WA5-LE and the Threshold T50 are and the PM1 have more hours. I also have a pair of HD600 with Blue Dragon cable so I can compare to those too but honestly, you might be looking for a level of precision in the description that maybe just you listening to a pair can get.

I am not a real technical person and I really do not care about frequency charts, I just believe on what I personally hear and enjoy in the music. As long as I like what I hear the rest who cares....

@musicman59, if you can squeeze in some time to compare PM-1 with T1, that would be much appreciated. Just curious because their curve looks similar and I have a T1.

Exactly. You cares about graphs . The PM-1 is the real deal.  The sound and build quality are excellent and it so good with the portable AK240 so it can be taken anywhere and play on anything easily.

Hello everybody,

I am looking to pick up the PM-1's and add it to my small collection; Sennheiser HD800, HDVD800 and my portables B&W P7; P5.

While I love the sound of the HD800, I find the B&W P7 outstanding in their own right.

Would the PM-1 be a better choice of being introduced to a planar headphone rather than the Audeze LCD 2 or 3?

Secondly has anybody had a chance to audition them with the HDVD800? Lastly, a comparison with the PM-1 and B&W P7's would be appreciated?

Thanks

For portable use you should also check out the Focal Spirit Professional. I think you might like them.

Thank you

I had the T1 for a few years in the same system I have now (2 T1s actually, one recabled and balanced, one stock, both sold now as of a few months ago).

If you want my impressions of them  from memory vs. the PM1, I can do so in this space.

Just got mine so can't comment on sound until after burn in (either it or me).

But comfort wise these are not in the same league as the HD800.   The ear cups are too small and touch my ears and they feel quite a bit heavier.   :triportsad:

Yes please... a caparison between the two would be much appreciated.

+ 1

Have ordered the PM-1's but regret selling my T1's a while back as I now have amps worthy of them and wonder what I might be missing.....

That's a far different statement than saying the PM-1 is more resolving than the HD800

It IS more resolving than the HD800 and a much better headphone IMO.

We have a SERIOUS difference of opinion here.
