Need help in finding a suitable cable!

Hey,

I'm wondering if anyone can help me here. I have an Auzentech Forte 7.1 but when I purchased it, I didn't realize that the VGA breakout cable it's supposed to come with was absent. I'm looking to replace the onboard soundcard amp with an external one (possibly the E12, not sure yet) but without the VGA breakout cable (that also has the line out port), I guess I have no choice at the moment but to use the headphone amp (which would cause double-amping, something I want to avoid).

I can't find the VGA breakout cable anywhere, and Auzentech's website and support are all but dead. Here's a picture of what I'm talking about: http://cdn.head-fi.org/c/cd/cdcc4a56_analogcable_lg.jpg

My question is... is there any cable replacement out there that would work? I only need a line out. Back of the Forte looks like this: http://www.toptenreviews.com/i/rev/scrn/large/49973-auzentech-auzen-x-fi-forte2.jpg

Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Look on ebay
  • Use the RCA/TOSLINK Combo jack for S/PDIF transmission to an amp
  • Ditch it and use a USB connected DAC or DAC/amp combo (e.g. Schiit Modi/Magni =$200)
  • Buy an Asus Xonar DG unless surround important then go for for DX (better than what you have).  Pretty cheap.

Yeah, I've looked on ebay with no success. I'd use the Toslink jack but that would bypass the DAC, wouldn't it? Not really something I'm keen on doing. Was thinking about replacing the card with a D2X and using a Fiio E12 as an amp. I use Beyer DT770 250ohms. Would I notice any appreciable difference in sound quality?

Thanks in advance.
