New portable amp - Amaze Audio 6.8

I have recently read something on a new amp called Amaze Audio 6.8. I understand that it has a great power output and can drive headphones like Sennheiser HD800 and Beyerdynamic DT880. Has anyone tried it yet?

As it happens, I recently trialled one.

I haven't got the equipment at home to do a detailed technical analysis, but my ears tell me that this is a very nice bit of kit.

I currently own a pair of DT250-80s which I run straight out of a 2i2, so I've been looking around for a decent unit to drive them better.

When I compared the sound of the 'raw' output (i.e. straight from the 2i2) to the Amaze output (i.e. from 2i2 to Amaze), I found the difference to be quite noticeable.  To me, the Amaze gave the sound a nicely rounded warm feeling, but not so much that it over-coloured the sound.  It certainly wasn't garish in any way and I found myself able to carry on listening for long periods of time without my ears getting tired.

This thing runs on two 9v batteries which makes it ultra-portable, yet able to draw on a decent power source.
If you're worried about spending money on batteries, it will accept rechargeables so that shouldn't be an issue.

Frankly, it's a shame I had to give it back.  That said, I think I'll be looking to pick one up sooner rather than later!

It would be interesting to see what others think.
