So how about we just list the prices that are reasonable according to our own valuation. Mine:

HD600 - $280

HD650 - $350

HD700 - $500

HD800 - $800

HD900 - $1500 for the 1st year, $1200 for the 2nd year, $1000 afterwards

HD1000- $1500 for the 1st year, $1300 for the 2nd year, $1200 afterwards

...

I think it's reasonable to charge $1000 or even a little more for HD800. Although it's been five years (and they've sold ~25000), it's still amongst the very best. I might even let myself be ripped off at that price one of these days--if I start listening to more orchestral music again. And $325 or even a little more is reasonable for both HD600 and HD650. I disliked HD700, so I can't easily put a price on it. I don't necessarily expect Sennheiser to make more money this way, but it's a better way to treat the fans whilst still running a responsible business.

$1000 for HD800 sounds right to me too. But In the long run I hope it can settle at $800. As a flagship 25,000 pairs in 5 years sound tiny to me. At $800 or $1000 i think Senn can easily sell 3 - 8 times more and double/triple its profit.

$325 is reasonable to HD650. But since HD600 was traditionally $100 lower than HD650, I think $280 - $300 will be a better choice for HD600.

Aren't Senn's high-end phones made in Ireland? I may be wrong about that, but if so there's a big reason why they cost more than all the ones made in China.

HD600 and HD650 are made in Ireland and HD800 is from Germany. AKG only moved to China recently, but they cost less than Senns before they moved production from Austria and you know what? They cost even less now. Beyer is still made in Germany, and they still cost less than Senns. So that's not the reason.
