Help me clear a few things up!

Thread Starter

I have an audio quest dragonfly on a mac.

Will setting my system output sample rate to its maximum setting provide better audio given all of my music comes from spotify premium, which I'm guessing is at best cd quality 16bit 44.1?

If not, does it negatively impact the sound quality?

How does 320kb spotify compare to CD quality, in other words what does 320kbs mean in terms of bits and sample rate?

My gear is

dragonfly on mac

bravo v2 tube amp beyer DT880

swans m200 mkiii

Do I have a significant bottle neck? Would I benefit from an amp upgrade?

that was a mouthful.

cheers

raphael

No. It's better not to resample the music. Although it does not hurt to use 24 bit instead, even though it isn't going to provide any benefits.

It is ok upsample, I wouldn't upsample to the dacs maxium sample rate though. upsampling moves the filter and quantization noise further away from the audiable band.
