Im no audiphile so ill just get that out there.. this is my first post also... so hello..
Plz give me a few headphone suggestions...
Current equipment:
Samsung galaxy s3 with some flac audio
E07k with otg cable so dac and amp work
And a trusty pair of sony xb60ex's..

I bought the e07k and it is def better than the stock s3 dac and amp.. but I feel im holding it back with the xb60ex's.

My budget is $100.. no more

Requirements:
Can be over ear or iem.. no open cans tho..
Must be able to stay on during workouts if over ear.. any iem works when im at the gym..
Must b bass heavy.. im a bass head..

My only current interest is the sony mdr xb90ex.. I love bass and the 16mm driver and 200mw peak power have caught my attention.. but if u knowledgable folks think there are better choices, let me know..

Oh yeah. I listen to mainly rap, edm, trap and metal.. odd selection I know.

Thanks for any help
Jeff

How do u think the e07k would handle a pair of sony xb500's or maybe even xb700?? Do I have enough power to make them sound decent??

I think it will be hard to find a headphone that will do electronic, rock and metal well. You might have to make a compromise to get both. You might be better off getting 2 cheaper phones that still deliver quality sound. There are many excellent low budget phones out there. For instance, for rock and metal the Grado 60i and 80i are excellent choices.

Since I'm somewhat of a basshead and listen primarily to electronic music I would like you to consider the Takstar Pro 80 (Gemini HSR-1000). It costs about $55 (for the Gemini HSR-1000) and has excellent sub-bass and extension with very present and clear mids and highs. With the Brainwavz HM5 pads these truly are amazing for the price point. I've owned much more expensive headphones and these are heads and shoulders above them to my ears.

Oh - I almost forgot - I also have the eo7k and the pairing with the Pro 80 is out of this world. Just to give you an idea of the bass on the Geminis- I have the eo7k set at 0 for bass and minus 2 for treble and I still get very powerful sub-bass that you can feel without sacrificng the mids and highs. Maybe someone else has experience with the eo7k and the grados.

Thanks for your advise. I will def look into the takstar pro 80. Ive honestly never seen that one.. or I just happened to miss it.

I know those genres r going to b hard to get in one but ill sacrifice some for one pair with lots of bass.. I can always mess with the eq a little to taylor it to my likeing some.

Anybody have any experience with those xb700? They say max power is 3000mw.. my e07k is only 220mw @32ohm so nowhere near that. so is that a bad pairing??

Also I have changed my mind about the xb90ex... with only 16ohm and 200mw max power I think I would prolly have the gain at +6 and will start noticing some hissing.. I dont notice any hissing with my xb60ex but gain is at 0 so...

Unless u guys think that combo will still b better. Im leaning more towards over ears lately..

Anyways going to check out those takstars..lol

Thanks for your suggestion of the takstars.. I dont think thats quite what im looking for..

Idk if this will help but my truck has 2 jl12w7 and a vrx 500.1 amp... I like lots of low bass... but I like it clean also... hence the e07k.. lol

Nobody has run an e07k with any of sonys xb series?? Wether it be in ears or the over ears?? I found a good deal on a pair of xb700's.. I think I will like them more as they have a little more treble as well.. from what I read. Lol

Any other suggestions??

I decided to go with the xb700.. I watched and read a lot of reviews.. and from what I gathered the xb500 sounds the best but might b flimsy.. not good. Im clumsy.. and pads might not cover my ears.

The metal framed xb700 will hopefully cover my ears and I have the eo7k to help push them so I will report back when they arrive.

Im pumped. My first over ears lol
