Best pair of IEMs for classical/ambient music

Hello,

I already own a pair of Shure SE215, but I heard that they are not the best for listening to classical music, so I would like to hear some recommendetions for another pair of IEMs in the price range of 200€-300€ which are suitable for this role. Also, is there a better option than the Shures for ambient music? Can I get a new pair that is good at both classical and ambient?

I would also like them to have the best isolation possible, because most of the times I am going to use them outdoors.

Thanks in advance.

Your requirement for  {IEM+Isolation+Classical} would surely put Etymotic near the top of your list.  Even the less expensive models have amazingly clear and precise sound.  According to the literature from the manufacturer, the Etymotic IEMS attenuate outside sounds by 35-42 dB !

I doubt that they are the best choice for ambient, unfortunately.  Not sure about this, but they're a definitely a bit lean in the bass.

Yes, Etys are almost bright. They never quite get bright, but no bass. ER4P's build quality is a good deal better than HF5, so it's worth the extra money.

You might try using http://theheadphonelist.com/headphone-list/. I would advise entering 4.5 as a minimum for microphonics.

Thanks for the replies, I think I'll get a pair of erymotics, precisely the ER4S, but i read that an amp for this model is strongly recommended, so which one should I buy? Since the etys cost ~220€ I think that if I wait a bit I could spend as much as 150€ for an amp.

The ER4S needs an amp.

ER4P and ER4PT are the portable versions. You can buy a resistor for them to use with an amp.

Not sure about the amp, unfortunately.  I've purchased the MC5 ($60 USD!) and use it directly from portable devices.

Another note:  I find it essential to use the lapel clip with these.  Otherwise the cable is just too microphonic.  With the clip in place, then no problem.
