Yulong DA8 + SPL Auditor + Sennheiser HD650?

Hello guys, I'm a newbie to this forum and to the hi-fi/head-fi world. I've spent quite some time online recently trying to build from scratch my first head-fi system. Lots of helpful information and many choices are out there, it's a good thing but that also makes decision-making fairly difficult. I live in a small town almost in the middle of nowhere, so sadly I pretty much have to rely completely on the information online rather than my ears...

Music I listen to: mostly classical, maybe 60% symphonic, 40% chamber/solo, some pop/rock

Budget: <$2,500

Taste: definitely no excessive coloration, but lifeless and boring sound is equally undesirable

Right now I'm looking at Yulong DA8 + SPL Auditor + Sennheiser HD650. How would it perform for the music I like? Any not so obvious pitfalls with this config, things like adapter must used for the connection which doesn't look like the case but just trying to make sure? In the future I probably will get some speakers, I guess DA8 will continue to perform, but probably Auditor will no longer be in that picture?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I am new here aswell all tough I am a headphone fan for a long time. The system I have is a HD650 with a SPL Auditor my dac is a RME HDSPe AIO PCIe card. For my media I use JRiver.

I play mostly Prog Metal and Rrog Rock a bit of Jazz and sometimes some Classical music.

You can't go wrong with this setup it's rock solid and you will enjoy it. The highs are a bit laid back but that is a HD650 thing. I use a VST-plugin eq (Fabfilter Pro-Q) to boost the highs a bit. A high shelve of about 1.5 db at 3.7khz. Remember to lower the main volume of the vst about 4 db to prevent digital clipping.

I have tried the HD700 on this system for a week but that just isn't worth the money for me so I sent it back.

The combo of the HD650 and Auditor is very transparent. I have used the combo with the V-Dac in the past and that was also a good combo. I don't know the Yulong DA8 so nothing for me to say about that.

Have fun finding a system you like.
