Definitely. There is rumor going around that you may have a choice between a SS or something that uses a subminiature tube design (like the 6088 in the Vali) to sort of give the AK480 a bit of warmth to it. It would be a bold move if AK480 actually offered a portable hybrid tube amp design.

I've not demo-ed this product yet but would like to get my grubby hands on it . That's why some of you may have noticed a trend of the sale of my AK120, Tera, Kaedes, SE846, M500, UHA-6Mk2, & SRM-727a late last year.

Also aside from my attempt of moderating the AK240 with an iron fist, I hadn't shown much interested in it. As with Vinnie, I was questioning why Cirrus Logic used in the AK240 as the CS4398, so I'm looking forward to this DAC instead.

My only concern is the large storage as naturally it won't be a single 1TB chip but made of many. Has iRiver solved the memory latency through interleaving or something?

600 bucks doesnt get you much closer to the 4.9k price of the 480s lol

SO BS!!!!!

I was all over this thread well before I saw your first post.

Typical that they would favor locals over internationals!

Do you think it will be a single DAC or dual like the 901? My guess is either a dual SABRE setup or perhaps something more esoteric, like a lattice design. Any idea?

I'm going to be honest, I'm not certain.

OMG! my dream

Still laughing my butts off since we're just totally into this, Happy April's Fool!

I'm hoping forR2R resistor ladder DAC or FPGA based design.

I wonder if they will share then the same linear power supply layout for it since I would think the Femto is "sensitive." wink.gif

Mod: Post edited. Not clarified with maker if information is public. Apologies.

Right, I don't know if there is enough room for a lattice type design....but a custom FPGA desing seems plausible given the femto.

It's still dual CS4398 as far as I know, but with femto-clocks and higher quality parts all through.  Now if they could put a quad-PCM1704 inside, that'd be great, but those are threatening to go EOL, so I can understand why they wouldn't do it.

I'm trying to so hard to keeping it in myself.

Any idea when pre-orders will be available?

Sounds interesting but I'll wait till 1-April to believe it
