Hi, I been thinking about get a good pair of headphones (close back design and over-ear) arround $220. I will use then for media consume and occasionally gamming, mostly the time on my computer. I saw the ath m50x in this web and I think is a good buy but I am not sure that is the best choise for my money, I want a know your opinion.

I like the ath m50x for the cable options and the low impedance (38 ohm).

Thanks.

The ATH-M50X are OK for the price, although I don't think there's supposed to be any real sound quality advantage over them and the older M50 model if you want to save some money.

Do you have a soundcard for your computer? What else will you be plugging the headphones into? What kind of sound signature are you looking for--extra bass, neutral? What kind of media/music do you listen to?

Thanks for comment, I dont have a soundcard or any experience in sound signature. I like this types of music pop, rock, house, electronic and dubstep. The most part of this music is FLAC, I want to enjoy the detail of this format.

Well the M50 series is fairly easy to drive--so works well with many different sources.

You might check out this buying guide to learn more about different types of headphones and for popular models for your budget:

You might find that a model in the budget category above yours is on sale, so look at those, too.

Then Innerfidelity has Wall of Fame lists which are all good headphones, with each list item generally leading to a longer review: http://www.innerfidelity.com/content/innerfidelitys-wall-fame

How about the SoundMAGIC HP100 or the Beyer DT770's?
