Dragonfly clicking sounds

My dragonfly worked perfectly for about 3 months with Windows 7.  But recently it's been developing these small clicks and pops when playing Spotify.  It's intermittent and it goes away if I restart the computer.  But the problem seems to recur more frequently now.  Any idea what the issue might be?

Thanks.

USB Driver Issue?

Turn off power management to all USB ports

Try another USB port.

Ensure that the PC is not scanning for viruses or using a pile of system resources.

Hope that helps.

If it goes away with a restart maybe its software related and not a problem with the dragon fly... maybe try a windows restore and see if you can restore your system to a time before it started messing up....??

just a thought. I'm no expert.

Yep. Definitely could be software related. Some other app/Windows feature could be causing the problem, something you installed or updated recently.

Thanks all. I'll try a Windows restore to see what happens.

Sometimes adding a powered USB hub in your system helps.

I've already been using a powered USB hub.  So don't know what the problem is.  I was wondering if Spotify is doing something when it starts up that sometimes leads to snafus.

What about when using a music player? does the issue persists?

When the ticking starts it shows up on all audio.  Both Spotify and Foobar playing my FLACs.  If I reboot, it usually goes away.

I would bet some other application is causing the problem. Unfortunately, that's not something anyone here could troubleshoot for you.

Start using Task Manager and drop the applications that  you do not recognize.  Keep in mind some of the processes are critical for Windows to run so you may freeze your PC, but you can always restart and try again.  I would make a list and cross of each item as you go along and try to find the issue.

Have you tried turning off Power Management on the USB Hub devices within the Device Manager?
