Help please "Surround sound" Headset/Headphones Dolby Digital live problem.

Hello people, I have Astro A40's along with the Mixamp 2013 edition, I do alot of gaming mainly Counter strike GO on PC, So I realised that I diden't have a soundcard to run the 5.1 signal "Dolby digital live" <-- Btw which part of hardware needs this? The headset or Mixamp? Anyway, I read more into this and came across numerous sources / complaints about Dolby Digital Live at first I thought it must have been faulty Soundcards etc, But no, There is actually a delay in sound with this Dolby Digital Live so now i'm pretty upset that I won't be able to get Surround sound through my Mixamp and to my headset without a delay As greatly need good positional sound.

Here is a couple of scenarios to get around this Dolby Digital live problem.

Do I replace the headset or Mixamp with something else another type of virtual surround sound Xear 3d?

Do I get a new pair of Headphones mainly the AKG Q701 or Phillips Fidelio X1 with a DAC and AMP?

I'm not sure what a DAC does but I know an amp basically highers the volume? I would really like surround sound but if that's a problem that I need this Dolby Digital Live i'd rather just go full-out Stereo with no delay.

Thanks for reading help is greatly appreciated.

I have read mad lust envys thread which is where I have picked out the AKG Q701 and the Phillips Fidelio X1.

I would say to sell off the Astro 40s and the Mix-amp.

Get the Creative Labs Sound Blaster Z sound card ($85).

And maybe the AKG K612 Pro headphones ($160-$180).

A sound card like the Asus Xonar DX or D! (used $60) or Creative Titanium sound card (used, $50) will provide DDL for use with your Mix-amp.

But I still think it's better to get the SB-Z and K612 pro.

See that's the thing I was looking at the Sound blaster Z series, But in order to get 5.1 sound it will have to be Dolby Digital live? Which then gives me a delay in sound which I do not want at all :(

If you plug the headphone (K612 Pro ?) straight into the Sound Blaster Z, DDL will not matter.

You would only need DDL if you were plugging a optical cable in the SB-Z.

Hi, Somehow I was under the impression I needed an Optical cable for surround sound ? Am I wrong?
