I have recently purchased a low hour 1p2 that came with the silver cable - As is usual, I have been fretting about what I am missing not having the upgrade gold/silver (uber is somewhat out of the question unless San Antonio covers the number Thursday:eek:) Now I really like the analytical nature of the 1p2 - it is a great combination of what I love about dynamic drivers and BA drivers - I'm not looking for a warmer signature - are you essentially stating that the gold/silver cable would add a bit of warmth to my 1p2? Because I'm happy with the signature as is. The point is probably moot to some extent at this juncture since my 1p2 has only about 60 hours - I probably need to wait until it has 100h before I start thinking about tweaking the sound....

You need more hours to your 1Plus2.  To accelerate the burn in process I usually select a punchy song and hit repeat and let it runs overnight for the first 10 days or so.  Once the IEM settles in then you can decide what to do with it on different cables.

Since you already have the stock silver and I don't think it's justified to get the stock gold/silver as their performance is so close.

Oh, one thing...I was using the Tera Player at the time I bought the 1Plus2/stock silver and thus it is a logical complement to each other as Tera is skewed towards the warm side of SQ.

Should you find your DAP is at the other end then a warmer cable might be the way to go (or even try a OFC copper one).

so everyone who got ref1 now is with gold/silver?

I had Sennheiser IE 800 but I had to return them since they were faulty - I loved the treble. How is the treble in Ref 1 compared to IE 800 :)?

I can share my memory of the IE800 against my 1Plus2...not in the same league...sound stage, definition...Ref.1 possesses similar analytical ability to 1Plus2 only I've found the mid is sweeter and richer...bass is an area much outstanding from 1Plus2.

I would call it more complete and balance...not u-shape as some said as music should have that range of frequency.

A u-shape phone won't produce real bass (bass in low volume and at real low frequency). You may play this track and find out how deep the bass Ref.1 can go and I don't think a u-shape phone will deliver...

Titanic Soundtrack (by James Horner)
Track 1...Never An Absolute...51 seconds into the track and this is how deep the bass would go, low volume but dive deep low bass. This is no u-shape IEM and this is one can play a full spectrum of music.

I'm really looking forward to this for sure. I really do like the 1p2, but I wish it had a bit more bass. Everything else sounds perfect to my novice ears. I listened to them for a good couple of hours yesterday (home sick from work) and really enjoyed them. I was listening to some classical, and I heard little things I've yet to hear from other IEMS that I own. The details are truly incredible. Too bad classical gets the least amount of listening of all my genres.
