Well, this isn't really a review as it is more like preliminary impressions. I'm listening to the Ref1 with stock cable comparing the ZX1, AK240 & CLAS -dB/Duet set. Although the ZX1 plays well with the Ref1, I feel I enjoy it more with the AK240 or CLAS -dB/Duet in the sense that those two are able to leverage on the Ref1 bass capabilities more fulfillingly. I think I like the ZX1 more with IEMs such as the FitEars but for something like the Ref1, I'd like a neutral to warm/neutral-styled DAPs. Maybe I should whip out my HM-901 to try pairing it with the Ref1.

I would be using an Intruder with the ZX1, which has a bit more punch to it. How do you feel that'd work?

A slight improvement, also slight taming of the trebles too. But I'm using someone else's Intruder now. I don't know if he's modded it or if it's stock - it comes from a known modder. He loaned it to me together with his modded AK gear.

Ok, thanks!!! How do you like the isolation on the Ref1? I am somewhat active when using my portable setup.

The Ref1 isolation was just ok for my ears. Note that it's ported like the 1Plus2. But in my particular case it wouldn't stay in my ears if I moved much. For the shape of my ears, I'd use it more for stationary or normal movement use - not the running type for me.

I do a lot of walking for exercise, not running. I could still use my other IEMS and keep these for my indoor relaxing times, which is very rare. If they don't work, they are universals and easily sold. Risk is minimum on these fortunately. Thank you again.

Curse you guys. I'd never heard of these 12 hours ago and have now ordered a pair.

Hope you'd find it one of the smartest choice over your entire headfi collections.

I would also agree that 1plus2 (and probably Ref 1 which look almost identical) are not the right phones for running - but walking is no problem.

I walk quite a bit with my 1plus2 every day as part of commute to work and find them very comfortable and with more than enough isolation (walking in NYC so good isolation is not easy but 1plus2 work fine). The key is to get proper tips - it took me a good month of experimenting before I found the perfect fit for me. In my case it so happens that in one ear I ended up with XL size tip and in the other M size tip - the key for finding the right fit for me was to accept that no matter which brand of tips I used if I insisted they had to be the same size it was never going to work (I feel dumb that it took me a full month to finally accept that).

Why would you want to run with uber expensive gear anyway????? Really nuts... Think about it... Your running, concentrating on whats ahead and around you...Sweat pouring down...Last thing you will be thinking is Oh the treble is just right ..Oh the sound stage....Really guys, I think you have more money than brains....LOL...

These Traulucent IEM's are for serious Listening times....Quite environment totally focused on music alone.

who said anything about wanting to run? I said I wasn't running with them...Just walking. I said I was active... moving around at work, walking, etc.

Or you can not be judgmental and let people do what they want with their money because they have the financial flexibility to do so. If I have a ton of 0s in my bank, what's it to you what I run with and who are you to tell me how I should use something I purchased?

I second that.

Keep gym gear basic and cheap. Gears like Tralucent products meant to be used on serious listening conditions I believe. Same goes for pretty much all other high end equipment. I wouldn't take my SE5way and run with it.

Agreed. I wear my Heir Audio 8.as to the gym daily...and I love it. makes my workouts that much more enjoyable. I buy things to enjoy them... and I'd rather get 2 years of enjoying it in every way possible, than 5 years of limited occasions.

Well You are right, what I should have stated is IF it was me I would certainly not go running with them... bit of a waiste really.

I Liken it to opening a fine wine with fast food...or you can drink the wine  savouring all its goodness with a great meal.. But hey if you guys pay for them & want to use them like you want...up to you..

But hey I cant even touch these financially.....anyway. Guess Im just a bit jealous....:D
