Yup. When first looking into an unknown product I always shoot for the product section with the star rating to get a quick overview then if I want detailed I dig through threads.

Yes they are planar.

Please in review make test with macbook or DAP (not from HM-901) without amp.

I am using this HE-560 with the HM-901 line out to the EF-6 Amp primarily.

I can try more silly tests with my Surface Pro 2 (No Macs in this household or my studio), as well as Sansa Clip +, HM-700.

So far, I'm finding the Soundstage to be more up front and wider, vs. the HE-6 which has a bit more holographic soundstage, deeper/further away, but not quite as wide as the HE-560.

The most noticeable sonic differences, are that the HE-560 still lacks the viseral punch to the level that the HE-6 has.

But that sheer viseral punch does make the HE-6 more fatiguing to listen to in the long run.  The HE-560 is smoother overall, and less fatiguing, but at the cost of dynamic impact.  I am finding that the HE-6 is still a special beast on it's own.  But In order for me to make a more thorough comparison, I am looking to get an HE-500 to compare to the HE-560, as I don't have an HE-500.

Thanks guys, I'm waiting for your reviews and I hope that in your next reviews you'll try without amp (silly test) and tell your opinion on the efficiency and if I can survive without amp for a couple of months. Thanks again

Wasn't there a mention in the hype train thread (Fresh outta CES...) that the HE-560s had a Stax-like (or electro-stat, at least) quality to them?  If so, interesting that at least one reviewer made a reference in that direction.

EDIT
This is the earliest mention of it, but I can't seem to find the post it references:

Really enjoying the reviews and comments thereon.  Am I the highly suggestible type?  You be the judge:  "When I put on my HE-500s this morning, they seemed really heavy, and getting a proper fit was awkward."  Gotta start building up the "excuses to buy" account early ;)

I posted proof positive images of the measured weight differences between the HE-6 and the HE-560.   Since the HE-6 is significantly heavier, the HE-560 feels like a feather in comparison.  Or maybe I've built up my neck muscles more with the HE-6.  :D

Do you find the 560 voiced closer to the 500 or 6? It seems so far that the consensus would put them closer to the 6. Interested in your thoughts.

Kind of in between, maybe closer to the HE-6.  I do not yet have an HE-500 in my possession yet.  I am working on getting one to complete this review.

Thanks for the update. I'll look forward to hearing the rest of your thoughts once you've got the 500 in house.

thanks...

What you think iFi iCAN is a good amp for HE-560.

iFi ICAN Output Power: 400mW(32Ω)

Is it have enough power for HE-560?

PM-1/2 vs HE-560 will be watched very closely

Hopefully as soon as next week

Looking forward to that battle too.

I'm gonna make an assumption. The PM-1 will be tonally warm and will be more comparable to an LCD-2 and HE-500, not the more neutral HE-560 and HE-6.

So I'm gonna guess that everyone is gonna say the 560 is clearer and more reference, while the PM-1 is more musical and intimate.

Thoughts?

With that.....which one will you buy?  And you can't say both!
