The TG-38 is much better than the non-pro PAA1 - TG-38 has more bass, more and  clearer midrange, and more present and clearer highs. The soundstage of the TG-38 is wider and taller. The TG-38 sounds like an Aurvana  Air with more muscle and even more fat. I was bummed that I broke my PAA1 and Aurvana air, but once I got the TG-38, I forgot and since it is so inexpensive, I won't even mind breaking the Tg-38.

My mod was made with 2-part silicon molding available at the art store. It was designed to make molds for jewelry or toys or even make your own bakeware. It comes in two tubs that is mixed then molded and dries to a rubbery consistancy (like a pencil rubber/eraser) in 15 minutes. There is enough in a $25 kit to make over two dozen molds. I have made .about 9 pairs so far gone through about 25% of the material.

I take yurbud inserts - and actually have seem yurbud knockoffs now for $5. I take the insert/cover, put them on the earbud. Then I prepare a ball of silicon mold about a little less than the size of a super ball - then shove it in my ear and keep shoving it in until it's flat. I keep the music playing because I want it in the right listening position. When it dries, I trim it with scissors and a dremmel tool.

It is not remoldable, but it's so cheap that I don't care. It is similar stuff used for self custom ear plugs at gun stores -except the ones at the gun stores are $25 for one pair.

It makes the bass huge - huge like speakers with big woofers, but not subwoofers. But it also increases the clarity of everything else. Everything is tighted and it sounds like the earbud has been better coupled with the ear, because it has. If you mess with your buds as they are and twist them and turn them and hold them on your head, and they sound better, this mod makes it sound like that - but one or two steps better - plus you don't have to walk around with your hands holding your buds in all the time to get better sound.

However, it does take time to mold to the final shape. The sound will stay the same during this part - but what you are doing is slowly finding the parts that tub against your inner ear and sanding them away with a dremel or sandpaper.

It involves a non-sanctioned use of the silicon material and you are sticking a foreign object into your ear. If you make a mess, I am not responsible. I am telling you what I did, and when I use "you" in this reply, I mean what I did and by no means am I recommending you do this. If you want to try, you take the risk on your own, as I did.

Thanks for the info mtliu!

Not that I am complaining but I wonder why though, did they run out of JL1? And I have another coming my way from dasetn since I didn't realize they already send me the tc100. Anyway a quick listen showed way less edgy high notes which the tg38s has. We'll have to give them some burn in.

Hi FlyingDutchMan!

Can you please compare the two? (tg38 and tc100)

I will be going for one of them...

I will after a proper burn in of both. The tg38s are at ~50 hours now, so will start with the tc100. Can't wait to hear what they will do, out of the box they already sound quite good, have to see how they improve though.

You will soon enough.

On the way or already have? Look forward to hearing about a new contender. They always seemed like the fit would be good if the cable was supple enough to not move the housing around.
