For the most part probably yeah, if they are rather cheap I don't mind taking a risk here and there.

I ordered the TG-38S on dasetn.com, it took about 6-7 days to reach me in the netherlands. Can't wait to try them out after work. I ordered the Blox BE5 a day earlier, they are still in transport but they where shipped from thailand, the TG-38S from china.

Is it because I chose free shipping that I have not received any confirmation or tracking? I have ordered 2 times from dasetn and neither time received any indication they were shipped or when they would get here. My latest order was shipped on May 2 but I have not yet received them. I also ordered those ES10 but just received an email that it has been delayed until June 6th.I'm not concerned with Dasetn, he came through last time so I am patient.

What's ES10? Does Dasetn sell ATH-ES10 now?

Hi everybody!

Long time I didn't posted anything on this board :)

I just purchased a pair of tg-38s, to compare them with my actual Yuin PK1 and TM7 (that I owned for few weeks before reselling).

A friend of me found another "gem" that I just received 2 weeks ago, it's called "Awei ES10" (and can be found here for 4$ : http://www.focalprice.com/EP0287B/AWEI_ES10_In_Ear_Hi_Fi_Headphone_Black.html).

Sincerely, I never thought what my friend said to me but I can now agree with him, this pair can blown earphones that cost 30x higher! compared to PK1 and TM7, the ES10 can compete without any problem. I find them some highs lacking but it can be solved with an EQ. Highs definitely needs to be pushed at max to listen some good (but not excellent) highs. Of course I burned them 100+ hours already and continuing to do every night. At the beginning the sound was bad to my ears (bass suffering and were like on a close little room, boom-box style which I really didn't liked, middles were ok and highs were crually lacking), but after those burning hours, it seems that I solved almost all points, bass are now rivalizing with PK1 (tightest and punchiest on ES10), middles are here (which are not the case of PK1 from his fun sound and V signature sound, of course amped!), and highs are getting there now after burning with some EQ with a little boost on highs, it's now almost close to be perfect, very clear, not sibilant, not perfect but still lacking a bit and still needs an EQ. Sound stage is I would say better than PK1 but maybe less than TM7 is I remember well. For the price, you can't get wrong, it's a sure value, and I received it in 9 days via AirMail into France, which is pretty fast I think, since my usual orders from HK are way more like 2-3 weeks in the past. I ordered another one but white pair this time.

Btw, ES10 clearly not need to be amped to desserve a damn good sound, which is a good thing. Quality of the cable on ES10 is not very good, even the PK1 stock is better but TM7 dominates here. ES10 loves to be pushed, that's clear here, I never arrived to saturate them! TM7 was saturating very fast and even PK1 with highs impedance is behing ES10.

If you guys have any question, feel free to inform me here I will try to answer my best that I can (even if my english is poor about technical words, hehe (I'am french) :)

I can't wait to receive and burn this tg-38s earphones, pretty excited already! I will do a much more complete review here of what I think of them compared to ES10 / PK1 / TM7.

Cheers'

BenF, I took a chance on this post. It was $4 so I thought I'd try it. I purchased from Focalprice not Dasetn. From Dasetn I ordered M1 and the Tingos.

Does anyone know what mods are done to the M760, M1, M3 from Dasetn?  Just a curiosity as I've never encountered the un-modded versions.

Probably recabling is the main one.

Another one is using the drivers in different housings then originally intended.

PK2 is a pleasant surprise.

I definitely prefer it to PK1 - does anybody else?

I see that some brave people already started ordering TG-JL1 from Aliexpress before the full review:

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Tingo-tg-jl1-dual-voice-coil-croons-earplugs-double-circle-earphones-38s/1820018644.html

I've asked the seller if she'll be able to provide as many items as needed, despite Taobao listing saying that only 30 were available.

She said not to worry - "do not believe them. I will give you as much as you want".

Sure hope she knows what she is talking about.

This PK2 sure makes me wonder about Dasetn's DIY PK2...

Could it be even better?

There are plenty Yuin shells out there, she could send anything that looks like the yuin PK1. Most people would not be able to tell the difference on looks. Sound could be a different story.

It does have black tungsten coating and sounds heavenly.

I keep buying new earbuds because I keep breaking my old ones. When I break old ones, it is especially disheartening when it is an expensive one like Rock-it R-50, SHURE E4c, or Creative Aurvana Air. All of these were upwards of $100. With the Dasten ones, I don't feel so bad. I've already broken the M1! It, however, is kind of a mixed blessing breaking the expensive ones because it lead me to the Dasetns. I think what I will do is finally decide which ones are my favorite and then stock up on them. In addition to using these to listen music, I also use them to monitor vocal performances - they sound better then IEMs to me - it might be fortunate that a $20 or so bud sounds better to me than a $200 dual/triple BA IEM that was made specifically for monitoring - or may be I just have weird ears.

The bad thing about Dasetns is that it makes me realize how poor other buds sound. It would be convenient to go to Wal Mart and just buy buds, but there aren't any there worth the price, let alone the poor selection. . .IEMs have displaced buds as the consumer favorite - and it's too bad because buds just sound better to me. But who knows, Dre Beats might just bring back wearing full sized cans in public - and brightly colored to boot. I see the "b" logo for sale on decals and vinyl stickers for those who what to be posers and buy the lookalikes and stick the logo on it. It would be a shame to get mugged for fake ones. . .even real ones since I can't fathom why people think they sound so good. BOOM BOOM BOOM BOOM. . .where's the separation, where's the soundstage, where's the imaging. . .why are the vocals and percussion in the background?

I bet there's an encoding technology like mp3 that can make all tracks sound like Beats and compress them down to 1/100 their size - stick your entire Boomy collection onto a 2GB mp3 player!

I placed two orders with Dasetn, both with free shipping. One was for 3 buds that took 10 days - I got no shipping info and when I requested it, I was ignored. The other was for one earbud, I got tracking info and it took 7 days. I live in the southern USA region. All these are counting straight days - not just business days.
