People raging over jergs' finding. I'm just sitting here laughing my ass off aaahahahah.

All of the meaningless speculation in this thread is exactly why Oppo is not active on headfi.  I asked them why they didn't have a presence here, and basically, I can see the reason.  Why isn't this thread an impressions thread as intended?  Totally missing impressions, 90% speculation.

Yep. This thread took a turn towards ridiculous some pages ago...

Guys lets back on the topic and forget about bickering before the mods lock the thread. The thing to get excited  about is  that there is a terrific planar that is going to become available shortly for a very reasonable price. Man is is light an comfortable an has a fantastic sound signature.  I  for one am excited about a comfortable headphone that will soon be available.

I too am stuck with two headphones now... What, you don't think I am pissed off I have to wait longer for the 560?
But the fact that this delay is happening because someone gives a damn about the headphone that I am spending money on to make it better and improve it makes me the opposite of that.
I think it is great indeed! I'll be getting a better product for my money in exchange for a little delay.
I am sorry but I find that more than acceptable.
Much thanks to everyone who contributed to this delay because there's reason for it.
And I will very much appreciate the improved bass conductivity for movies and gaming. The impact on music will be small.
Maybe they wanted to do sone other minor changes so the baffle was only added on the list. That seems probable to me.
Linear extended bass > linear and rolled-off bass.
Think I can stick with the K612/MA900 till them wink.gif

people should be happy about both jerg's findings and Hifiman's listening and consideration to take another look onto these phones before the big production. You want to spend 900 bucks and don't have better bass extension? You think both don't know what they are doing? Upper Hifiman measure pretty good in general, they generally know what they are doing.

I wish companies like Ultrasone would sometimes listen to input from the community. We might have less ringing and distortion and maybe a better balanced product line.

Everything else aside, done!  I would like to see a mod to the Hifiman to afford a deeper soundstage.  That seems to be one thing everyone would like, no!

Wow... I thought your last couple of posts were the annoying ranting of a person who assumes way too much without little to no reasoning behind their assumptions - but this one is... just... wow. Where to even begin...?

"What I didn't care for was the fact that a modder thinks he knows more than the design group." Where did you get this from??? If HFM were even remotely in agreement with you about Jerg's apparent lack of humility, I'm sure they wouldn't have given his opinions the weight that they did. Engineers routinely find shortcomings in the design of their products; and in this case, HFM is courageous and humble enough to acknowledge that Jerg's own design philosophy for headphone pads was superior to their own. Hence, the H560 comes pre-equipped with HFM's version of the "Jergpads." That's right, you just sold those headphones that you mentioned, to buy a pair of headphones that came and will come with the very pads, whose design is owed to Jerg, the very guy you are accusing of displaying "sheer arrogance." Jerg was just sharing his personal and subjective findings with the community. This is one of the main reasons why head-fi exists. We share our perceptions, and our methods for improving our audiophile experiences.

"It has had this whole thread talking mostly about "MOAR SUB BASS", and not enough about the rest of the qualities of this headphone!" Really? I can go back into this thread and quote for you all the number of posts about sub-bass, versus those about other aspects of the sound, and prove you wrong... unless your own definition of "mostly" is as warped as your view of Jerg's intention.

Finally, stop assuming that HFM are bending over for Jerg! If they have intelligence and integrity, which I'm certain that they do, they would review Jerg's recommendation seriously; and would not agree with the mod if it has adverse effects on their product. What you are doing is flaming a person, who has contributed a lot to the community, for no real reason.

I hope that this thread doesn't start requiring a moderator's intervention... it's starting to really seem that way.

I've been without a main headphone for a long while now. I've been enjoying my alternates, but I still want that ONE headphone. The 400i and PM-2 are the ones I'm watching closely.

Right now, I'm enoying the HFI-15G quite immesensely due to extreme comfort, and large sound, despite being on ear.

Still, a lack of main headphone has been getting to me for months.

Thread Starter

I think for now the impressions and discussion about HE560 have gone their course; let's just all wait for a new development before going ape-poop.

If anyone still has a grudge with me, feel free to PM me and we can chat in private. No need to risk locking a 66-page thread because of it.

If you don't have anything to contribute, and don't have tangible questions to ask, refrain from posting here please.

(E.g. @electropop and I had some good PM discussions a couple of days ago, after he posted some stuff and the thread went ugly for the first time.)

Oppo's impressions thread is already intervened by moderators. There was only one semi-useful impressions post, and it was very, very brief (listened at a meet I think). But thanks to many contributors here, I do have a pretty decent idea about HE-560.

Though I see why manufacturers would shy away from actively participating at Head-fi, I still applaud Hifiman for doing so, despite the vast amount of ridiculous and superfluous comments. We are intelligent people with common sense, capable to filter all that.

Wow some of the posts in the last few pages have been unbelievable. Calling Jerg arrogant because of an improvement he suggested (not enforced)? Whining because of delays? I'm not one to rage over internet talk but that really grinds my gears. Here we have a man dedicated to improving our eventual experience with these headphones, and even our current HE-400s/HE-500s, yet rather than show gratitude he receives the opposite?  I don't want to say anything else on the matter but I just had to mention how unbelievable I find this whole discussion.

Totally agree with you. But we should not make a big story about this. 99% of us are with Jerg I think. So, no real problem there.
