So i have a feeling she knows all..but keeps the peace so she can buy her stuff..lolz

Yes, your Code-X were burning ;)

See, equanimity, even in hiding/deceiving/lying.  Win-win, up until bankruptcy (not you, just in general).  I assume she's not getting pissed off at you for your hobby purchases, else we'd have heard about it.

OK, I'll stop derailing the roller coaster.  Just a bloody mess :D

Listening to some Greg Brown and using some special Litz cable. Great speed and attack. Getting some nice out of the head sound, large open soundstage and a sweet tone. Great fun.

Does anyone have experience using a headphone with a speaker amp like yaqin MC10? Is this possible without damaging the headphone? I'm not even sure how it would be connected...

I know for a fact my O2 will not let me listen to these at preferred listening volume without clipping and that;s the only dedicated heaphone amp I own....

But yeah, if both people agree on separate accounts - and that would include bank accounts, not just credit cards - then of course it's your money to spend.  I'm not familiar with that arrangement actually existing, but I reckon there's a couple couples out there who could make it work in the long run.

I promise once I get my 560 to be on topic, but until then I'm bored so lucky you, we get to talk! I'm sure there are many very reasonable women out there, but yes you are lucky as it seems many men have to hide such interests or like me when I spend $1000, claim it was $500. I know, I know, it is lying and I always feel guilty, but I don't have other debts, I don't own a car to pay for and in general audio is my main hobby at this point in time. Plus, if you purchase well and keep things in good condition you should be able to part with your gear for about 60% of what you put into it so that isn't so bad.

My solution is simplest - remain a bachelor until you've acquired all the 'toys' you think you need. I'm approaching that point so maybe soon I'll make my mom happy and finally find someone and settle down. :)

^Dale, there are always more toys, the art of music reproduction marches on, so when you join our ranks (married to an Angel, though I had to survive a Demon to get here😏) there will be the HE1560 that you cannot live without. So, make your Mom happy, find a nice girl, get married, join the global ranks of oppressed males 😝!

LOL, in theory that's a brilliant plan!  Now, if we could only get all those pesky hi-fi companies to stop releasing new and improved gear ;)  Maybe we can combine your theory with Sonic's like this:

sell your well-maintained old gear to fund the inevitable new toy syndrome (yes, I'm using "new toy syndrome" in a different way from its usual meaning).

NOT LISTENING!!!  Oh, wait... damn!

I think if you're spending within reason (i.e., within your family budget, independent accounts, joint accounts, whatever), and hobby/indulgence spending is done with equability, then no problem.  If one's marriage can withstanding the fudging, more power to ya.  Seems a shame a rational conversation can't be had.  "Honey, here's our financial situation.  I'm going to buy these $1000 cans.  You buy your bags/shoes/whatever, and we'll still be solvent."  If it doesn't even out, and you're found out, bitterness will ensue.

It took some serious discipline not to pull the trigger on the $720 HE-560s.  I could have reasoned that since I'm probably going to get them anyway, where's the logic in spending $180 extra later.  When I mentioned the deal, the reaction told me the timing wasn't right.  $180 down the line ain't gonna break us, and would be cheap compared to the crap I'd have to endure if I'd bought them without discussing it.  Points score > $180.  And the new toy will be there later.  YMMV, of course.

I'll be interested to hear your impressions.  What amp(s) will you be using with them?

My O2 at 1V RMS input and 4x gain is already very loud for me; how loud do you listen to your music usually? Don't want to be preachy BUT do take care of your hearing... once those inner ear hair cells are damaged, they do not regenerate.

But if you really want to hook it up to speaker amps AFAIK you do it like you would speakers, to the output terminals of the speaker amp. Some IIRC use a speaker wire to XLR/TRS/TRRS adapter to plug the 1/4 or XLR cable to the speaker terminals.

She smokes like a chimney so as far as I'm concerned if she can literally burn money to feed an addiction I can "fudge" some numbers. Corporations and governments do it all the time so it must be okay right? I have a Yulong A18 in transit from Texas. And yup you guessed it, if she asks it cost about $250! Seriously though, I am selling my Asgard 2 and I have sold my Nad Hp50 already so that covers almost all of the A18. I also recently cancelled the data part of my smart phone plan (smart phones aren't so smart for me) and cut the interest rate in less than half on my Visa by getting a line of credit and paying the Visa off with it (and I have cut the available credit on the Visa by 3/4). Those last two moves over the 2 years of the remaining time on my cell contract pay for the 560s (although I will pay it off in about 4 months as I have budgeted for that). See, I have a plan, doesn't that make my deception okay? And you thought all Canadians were nice and honest I'll bet!

It's not about the volume, it's about the sound ^_*
You don't like the sound, you get different gear!
Simple..., right?

Seems simple enough to me. That is what I do.

LOL, I have a very distinct memory of a drunk(?) con man trying to sell me a watch in a park in Toronto.  People are people, eh?  I don't differentiate by borders, just by actions (under which I include making statements; I'll stop at the Thought Police, though ;-)

There was nothing wrong with the watch I was trying to sell you, it was a good deal. I swear it was a real Rolex for $50, I know a guy who has this store ... Nice use of eh by the way. So just to recap here, you're saying it is wrong to lie and otherwise deceive my wife to improve my gear? I'll think about that, but it seems crazy to me. You Americans I tell you.

That's just crazy talk. You won't know if you're lonely if you get the perfect rig. Being an oppressed male is, well oppressive. Unlike you Wildcatsare1 I'm still in the demon stage myself, but I suspect the elusive angle exists. I can't believe how long my 560s are taking from Minnesota. I haven't even received an e-mail saying they are at the border yet, and they were in Illinois two days ago! And I paid for the most expensive shipping option available in the cart. My A18 is coming from Texas so that should be fun. Just to add to my off-topic rant I sold my DT 880s to a head-fier in Hawaii and he had them in under 4 days and it takes this long from Minnesota to Ontario? I also sold my HF2s to a NY head-fier who received them in two days. Seems things leaving Canada are fast, it is the getting in that sucks. Can I blame this on the USPS? I know I'm not American, but can I still complain about your postal service? Okay, angry, frustrated vent over, thanks for indulging.
