Cancelled my order NOT because HE-560 might not be great sounding.
main reason:
Wasn't going to deal with back n forth shipping issues IF Fang again changed pads, or not knowing IF they ever often pre prod pads again.
Or if everyone begins changing their minds on this latest sonic delta, or more measurement show something unknown.

I want to know this is the final revision of the product, once and for all.
With no statement from HiFiman, that is not guaranteed.

If the rest of you don't agree with this reasoning I could care less.
Send me your spare money and time to change my decision.

1. Don't give a rip what you consider absurd.

2. "Despite the treble" means what? Not as good as you hoped or heard earlier?

If Fang goes back to the previous pair of pads, I'm sure HiFiMan won't have you ship back the pads...  LOL :p  That's relatively cheap compared to the actual 'phones.  So if that's what you're worried about, you probably won't have to deal with that.  Either way, not you're making your decisions of whether or not to buy based on some speculative chance that they'll change the pads...  Which hasn't been stated.

That's a little rude and uncalled for...  But OK...  As for the despite the treble remark...  A lot of people claimed that their is a treble spike in the 4k...  Despite the fact that it has it, the headphones aren't bad still...  EG, it's brighter, but doesn't do wrong (I don't hear it that often, if at all).

thanks for the fast reply and clarification.

1. I think it's a bit "uncalled for" when others ridicule choices that don't match their decision tree.
2. The treble spike was something that gave me cause for concern, and is one trait I don't like in general.

Maybe I'll jump off here and watch the HE-400i thread instead since I'm in no purchasing rush either.

You're judging a book by it's cover, that's all I'm going to say about it.

I've listened to both iterations of the phones. I've seen the measurements. I've read about some of the pad rage on here. It's still on my list to get.

Somewhat true, my purchase delayed by this new measured treble spike, While awaiting more expert reviews of this trait and headphone in general.
I've no need to be an early adopter, nor spend $900 on a "competent pair" headphone that "aren't bad still".

And yes, I'm aware of other glowing reviews- not suggesting this treble spike is fatal.
Onward.

@ Jexby : You excited about headphones that you did not listen and likelyhood will not buy : this is obviously not a good thing for this forum. IMO.

Edit : I read your lasts posts; ok so I'm maybe a bit unfair, do not pay attention.

Let the HE-560 is great and with the new pad is a little less awesome.
     >> It's still great for the price
     >> Maybe we could buy the old pads later (if you please?)
     >> Nothing serious.

I am very concerned by the upper mids/low treble spike of the production earpads as well... I have no interest in purchasing the HE-560. I am only interested in purchasing the pads and I wanted something as forgiving as Hifiman pleathers are (previous reports suggested so)... But it seems that while the preproduction version could do the job for me, this production version maybe couldn't. This new version in general does not look as flat in terms of FR - that's what I am concerned about.

Well, I could stay with the pleathers in the worst case... But I wanted something more comfortable (especially now, during summer) with the same type of sound and therefore attempted to give these new pleather pads with velour tops a chance. Now... Not so sure what to expect. Once I receive them, I would have to ship them back to Hifiman for roughly the same price as it cost me to get them. =/

While you guys are busy bickering with each-other, I've been exchanging emails with Fang about the pads. What's confirmed is that he very well may bring the older pads back, I'm still waiting on him to elaborate further.

Is he going to bring them back, with better stitching and matched pairs like the newer ones?  Would be interesting to see what the newer ones with the same mesh insides of the older pads could do as well.

Could you ask him about possibility of exchanging the pads - or at least of giving some discount for us who already purchased the 'flawed'? version? I don't want to pay another 50USD (including shipping) for the revised/re-introduced set...

Sigh, here we go again...

Fine, bring back the old pads, I'll buy them, that's great, but that better be it. And I mean it - IT.

Having two sets of pads is always nice, though having just one would be even better...
