Pretty much. I read a lot of stuff though. I'm like a database. I've read every review there is just about. I'm one of those guys that does his homework. I do my research and end up buying the best (without going overboard like buying a Stax SR-009). Saves me a ton of money and am always happy with my purchases. It usually ends up with me buying something rare/not often heard about.

Same. I don't remember where I read it, but there was a review that had a comparison between this and the HE-6.

A fully/optimally/whatever driven HE-6 is an enigma I never got to fully solve... I'll get much closet with the 560 hopefully...
The 6s sounded good on my setup but I wasn't giving them what they desired... And there's so many variables in those setups for thar particular headphone... Meh, I ain't worthy enough to satisfy their demands fully biggrin.gif

I feel you. Hey, plus you get the added benefit of lighter weight and comfort with these as well as the efficiency you mentioned. The review basically stated that these we a bit better, marginally lower, or equal. Don't remember which. Don't care either. These 560's are going to be awesome, especially for $720 shipped.

Is it bad that I could care less about the Sennheiser IE800's coming next week? lol. I want these HE-560's. Best I've had in a headphone so far is the AKG K702 Annie.

Fugg consensus. There are certain things the HE-560 does better than the HE-6 and vice versa. Depends upon what you are looking for. FWIW, I've never liked the HE-6 unmodded.

That's exactly how I feel, barring the last part as I've never heard the HE-6. The general publics' opinion on something has rarely ever meant anything to me anyway.

Mine were the 6s, but I like my current, much cheaper, reference K612 on my setup marginally more...
I reckon this new Hifimans will finally beat them though, something the 6s failed to do on my previous setup...

Hah, sure. But still, what else should one rely on if not consesuses (that is, without the option to actually hear the headphones)?

If you come here asking for advice, I suppose you want to know what the consensus is.

This topic needs to settle down a bit.  Owners of the production 560 have loved it for the most part, and the idea of rereleasing the pre-order pads or better versions of them was brought up as a sole idea to provide additional option possibly down the line based on a combination of subjective impressions and objective information, not to stifle production or create mayhem.

This situation is not a mess, current 560 owners are happy with their headphones, people who haven't received the 560 yet shouldn't comment on the 560, Hifiman is a better company for listening to Head-Fi, production of the current 560 isn't going to stop, people shouldn't cancel their orders, people shouldn't overreact and be drama queens, people shouldn't speculate, people shouldn't fill topics talking about how pathetic the situation it is, otherwise you get crap like this.

you said it better than I did...thanks.

Ah, gotcha.
There's no doubt in my mind that the 560's will be my endgame headphone for quite some time. I needed one for portable use and one for home use. I'm done now. I just wanna enjoy the sound.

Well, in this case, the consensus is that the HE-6 is still the "flagship". Had you used a different way to describe it, then response would have probably been different. Still, from what I've read and the price, I find the HE-560 a better buy.

Jeez, you make them sound like a Victoria's Secret model, not a pair of headphones ;)

But I do agree with your basic point, which I believe is "Value for money spent."

Yeah, that end game thing. More like temporary end game. I bet you'll be back within half a year, lol :D

I don't quite follow. Do you feel offended or think the whole thing was redundant..?

I have no doubt the HE-560 is a great buy, though. But I got a second hand hd800
