I currently have Mullard NOS tubes in my amp, and they are about as lush as it gets!

It's surprising coming from a gent who enjoys the Hugo + HD-800 so much

I found exactly that of the returned pre prod version and was hoping for thicker (and warmer) mids. I'm so going to be disappointed when the new one gets here. I miss the HE-500 midrange already :o

Someone can tell me if the treble of the HE-560 is sparkly as the HE-500 ? Because the treble of the HE-500 hurts a lot my ears, i really don't like them.

I feel like I'll feel the same... The rest of the spectrum seems top notch, so I really hope I won't find the mids too thin!

If the pre-production will turn out to have better sound... color me pissed!

But it's been established the pads play a role as well, and so does the cable, possibly.

I've got more than enough cables, pads and amps, I'm sure I hope I'll find a solution

I initially found the pre-production HE-560's a little thin for my tastes but that could just be my setup. For what it's worth, adding the HE-6 cable seemed to add a little bit of body to the sound. I might tweak my setup a little more to see if I can come closer to a sweet spot.

Everyone seemed to love the sound when the 1st shipped now I am hearing all these complaints hope I didn't make a mistake ordering them Anyone have something posit to say I was under the impression that they where an improved HE500

+ 1.I am also worried because it seems that those who have received the final version are a little dissapointed or at least not so excited as with the pre-order.

I'm getting my preorder review pair replaced pretty soon, so I will for a short duration have the test prototype, the preorder v1, and the production v2, all on hand to compare. That future comparison should offer some insight to some people.

I heard tell that max power handling was 2 or so watts. Amps that had 2-6 watts sounded great, plenty of headroom with the 560. Even 1 watt should be good. They do like some power though. Lyr sounded excellent with them.

I wouldn't listen too much to the complaints. I found the 560 superb. Very much less dark then the previous generation of HFM cans. And if you want slightly darker, 500 like sound, get the 400i. Both are stellar. Very responsive to many kinds of amps too, so you can pair it with amps to your taste.

I am looking forward to knowing your impressions !!

pre-production 560 was thin after coming off of LCD-X and/or PM-1.  However it's a 10 second sensation and you get accustomed to the 560's sound real fast.  After a minute it sounds thick again.

You need run in before you compare a new headphones to another one with hundreds of hours on it.

The treble is more elevated but very smooth.

Unless you have a bad DAC (or very bright gears), it won't be a problem as it is more refined than the HE-500.

Plus, you're probably talking about the upper mid forwardness that can be aggressive with the HE-500. Their treble is very smooth, IMO. The HE-560 has none of that, it's like a stat.
