Wow that crack is quite amazing; truly unfortunate.

If they make a successor to the HE-6, I'd wouldn't mind if they used something heavier than plastic if for nothing but to have them "feel" nicer, but as I type that, the weight of the HE500 is getting to me, so I'm not so sure anymore. Leather pads would be nice, but then they'd probably feel like they have to make a vegan version of their pads. Though, I wouldn't mind an Alcantara-like material for pads. It's both cool and soft.

Aluminium as material for the cups would be awesome. I also like the look of 009.

Keep in mind, the single magnet really drives the weight down. So an aluminium cup on a future headphone would probably still be lighter than an HE500/HE6; that's without considering the improved headband.

I think the carbon fibre look is overrated, it's just like a textured plastic look and feel. Sure they are super durable, but so is really high-quality plastic (i.e. what's used for the cups of all the past Hifiman cans).

Meanwhile, I hope the production is going well

Burning-in my new gear, can only imagine what a HE560 will sound like... either :basshead: or

It might not be too bad actually for mods to just lock the HE560 thread for 2 weeks and just open it back up when Hifiman has information on shipping and the final state of the cans etc. I mean otherwise it'll just be this kind of bland bantering and bickering and blatant buffoonery all the next half month or so here.

(Edit: just making sure to clarify, it's not a comment toward you lol. But to all the posts in this thread in the past 3 weeks)

Myself included. It'd be a good break for a lot of us, ha!

I wonder how this stacks against Beyer T1 since they're around the same price now.
