The LCD-X might sound good to a lot of ears, but it's a straight up u-shaped signature, it's not a linear signature.

Sorry, but this doesn't compute with me...no Audeze headphone has ever been U shaped. They are linear from 2kHz down to 20Hz. I'd definitely send them back. I doubt its a variance thing, I've talked to Audeze about this and they've made some great strides in this regard, but there is definitely something up with your pair...think LCD-XC, but with a more transparent signature and openness.

LCD-X might be linear from 20hz to 2khz but so is the HE-400, and we all know how much head-fi loves to hate them at times.

I'm talking to Justin to trying to get my pair exchanged for a new one.  If my new one sounds the same I can safely write a review and call the LCD-X and overrated piece of trash.  I really, really liked the XC btw so I doubt this will be the case on the replacement pair.

The HE-400's aren't as transparent as the HE-500s or HE-6s, but offer good bang for the buck performance. But if you liked the XCs, the X's are that much better. I've got both here and often compare them. But the XC's are outstanding closed headphones in their own right.

The LCD-X might sound good to a lot of ears, but it's a straight up u-shaped signature, it's not a linear signature.  Enhanced bass, enhanced treble, recessed upper midrange.  Both the XC and LCD2 are more linear.

You know... I'm hearing a lot about the LCD 2 Fazor... and I'd love to hear one...

And the excitement continues to grow... damn.. why am I spending money on the IE800 again? Should I just forget about it and order the HE-560?

To listen to inferior sound at the office or to listen to the awesomeness of the 560 only at home... such a difficult choice... haha... this is usually when I end up buying both and my wallet hates me for a few months.

A buddy and I got to compare am HE-560 and an Oppo PM-1 on the same amp set up at THE Show Newport today. I came to the conclusion that the HE-560 was livelier and more open than the Oppo, and the Oppo was smoother soundwise. Also got to talk to Fang about the 560's and he mentioned the 3 week or so before things being sent out, as well as which color scheme was better (I picked the darker one).

If you work in a noisy area, good IEMs are a necessity. I bought the Westone 4s when my office was located right next to a proto shop and later to my horror next to the HR office. The Westone 4s were technically better in some respects to my HE-500s, especially extracting details from leading edges of string instruments and in some way their sound staging was also more natural. I sold them when I left my previous job to start my own business (now you need to hear the phone ringing! :p). In the end I sold W4s because I found them a bit too uninvolving with music and the fit wasn't that great, but I'd definitely get another IEM if I end up in the same situation again.

Can someone compare the difference between the alpha dog and this he560?
like the easiness to drive, the tones and soundstage etc.

I personally hope that there's no comparison here.
