However, sold it in January and bought T1 which is my main can at the moment, driven by Corda Symphony and also a top vintage intergrated ampilifier. The valves are not my cup of tea right now, perhaps sometimes in the future. Looking forward to be able to hear HE-560 some day. It seems that this could be my choice - HE-500 really was something but this is reported to have some additional virtues that you perhaps couldn't find with HE-500. The only thing that maybe worries me a bit is - wood.  Do you think we could expect a some kind of non-wooden (free from wood) version some day?

I like your nick :)

HiFiMAN will be releasing the HE-400i, which will not be wood, but also will not be tuned like the HE-560.  It's been said that it will sound more like the HE-500, but of course it will be lighter, as it will only use single-ended magnets for each driver.  So, you might want to wait and have a listen once it's out (and read reviews of course).  Hopefully you can demo it.

Hmmm...  Maybe I just didn't spend enough time with the AD to fully adjust or perhaps it just had bad synergy with my setup.  All I know is that upon initial listen I immediately regretted selling my HE-500's for the AD.  They were very clean sounding and did well with orchestra music but for pretty much everything else they were, for a lack of a better term, just boring.

Thanks, ThurstonX. As mentioned here before (I think) in January you could see in these photos something without wood...not bad looking, is it? Personally I'm not a great enthusiast of wooden parts in headphones, but of course I understand and approve other kind of views, too...

That's because those photos are of the HE400i, they mistook it for HE560.

Nope, that's exactly what it is. Hifiman reps confirmed it here some months ago.

Hell no.

It's definitely not thin.  It's a bit dry though.

Yes, that's true. But I mean HFM could bring out a corresponding model with the same tonal signature but without wood, just a personal dream....

You shouldn't worry about the wood, it's very durable and looks way better in person.
