Perhaps we can start something new, ear mods to fit the cans.

They need an ear pad designer with big ears!

Hi,

We are a bit surprised that some people is finding the new ear pad not being big enough for their ears. We have spent a very long time on designing and testing this new ear pad to produce the best sound and comfort. This issue never came up.

If you do have this issue, please send us a PM with some details. We would really like to get to the bottom of this issue. We promise that if there is a really a need to modify the design, we will definitely implement that very quickly with our factory.

More importantly we promise that if we do make that change, anyone who has received HE-560 will be able to request a pair of new pads free of charge.

Thanks for all your input. We are really appreciated.

Thank you kindly. May I ask if there is any news on the 400i as well. I don't ask for myself but for the droves of others who pester me for information (like I know something).

thanks...

Just had the chance to audition the HE-560 with the Uberfrost/Lyr (stock tubes) stack. These do indeed scale up noticeably with a DAC/Amp upgrade--everything across the spectrum was improved!

Now to save money for an upgrade...

Hi,

The design has been finalized. it is at the final testing stage right now. it should come soon, although we don't have a specific time line yet. I think that it is safe to assume that it will definitely come before the summer ends. :-)

Thanks for compliment, although we really wish that this issue wouldn't happen in the first place.

You guys are right. I think that we need to hire someone who has large ears just for testing ear pads. :-)

Really glad to hear that. You should really find a chance to try HE-560 with a hi-end amp such as our EF6. It really shows that how far we have gone in terms of planar headphone design.

On the subject of amping, will the HE 400i's be as efficient or nearly as efficient as the HE 400's?

This is great! I really appreciate how HiFiMAN stands behind its customers!

Just wondering, will this policy apply to any futute potential revisions to this headphone? That is, if a new revision of these headphones are released, will owners of the earlier revision be entitled to exchange theirs for a new version?

This is a risk all us early adopters of new headphone models take, and it would be nice if HiFiMAN had a policy like this to reassure us =)

Now that you mention it, I most certainly will!

I suppose all that is needed is to increase the ear opening from ~5 to ~6cm?
The bigger the better
I have larger ears so it is something I'd appreciate and expect smily_headphones1.gif
Please be there no comfort issue.

HIFIMAN's new earpad improved sound quality a lot comparing to old velour and pleather earpad. Both new pad and old earpad have identical inner diameter: 5.5 cm, but new pad is much softer than the old earpad.  After being worn on the ears, softer earpad tend to shrink inner diameter more than the hard one. This is why there are very few complain about our old earpad which is identical in size, but much harder.  We did have more than 50 people trying our new earpads during R&D. However, why we can not catch this problem? Human race of Mongolian (most east Asian people such as Chinese, Korean, Japanese, etc.) ear size is much more uniformed comparing to other race such as Caucasian, but we don't have any foreign employee in hifiman China. We do have two Caucasian race employee in hifiman America. Unfortunately their ears are small :-(.

To solve this problem,  we will ship two version of earpads to those preorder guys who have big ears: One earpad has hard inner material, the other one is thicker than the current pad. We will pick one of the earpad after receiving feedback. This trouble shooting case will take about 2 weeks so that we will have 2 week delay on shipping dealer's orders. At the same time, we will ship HE560 to Asian dealers without any delaying.
