I may have missed it but what's the word on the redesigned cable for the 560? Good, bad, decent...?

Frankly, I don't really know, seems no one is posting much about it for reasons unknown to me..

Well I received two versions, 1 is really similar to the Canare cable in terms of feel and jacketing, the other is this rubberized jacketing material that's thicker but much more flexible. I'm not sure if either is the final design or not though. And as for sound, I really don't care frankly.

I don't care about sound signature of cables either. I do care about the feel, flexibility and usage of the cable though. The he4 cable was great. I'd take that one any day.

"next compared the PM-1 with my three-year-old Audeze LCD-2 planar magnetic headphones ($1,145). The LCD-2 had a brighter overall balance, and the treble was airier and clearer. The PM-1 was richer, with a slightly warmer and fuller midrange -- so much so the PM-1 sounds like it's hooked up to a tube amp, with my 100-percent solid-state Burson HA 160 amp. The PM-1 is a considerably lighter headphone -- it weighs 13.9 ounces, while the LCD-2 tips the scales at a hefty 18.4 ounces."

I am definitely more hopeful for the he560. I have grown more fond of good treble.

How is it that the lcd2 is airier and brighter? The lcd2 is really dark already... to top it off 3 years ago was revision 1 even darker than rev2. I dont think I could go darker. I think I should just get the 560 and if I dont like it go for the th900 and be done.

^^ I agree that's an odd comment regarding the lcd2's brightness.

I doubt you'll be disappointed with HE560's treble, it is extremely impressive on all fronts.

^I doubt it too and hope it atleast matches the th600 in width/depth of soundstage.  I think i will drop the price of my th600 to make it happen.

either he is off(prob not)

the lcd2 needs 3 years burn in for the treble to shine

or the oppo's treble flat out sucks!

Measurements are starting to pop up on the PM-1:

Looks pretty recessed comparatively in much of the treble region.

HeadphoneAddict does think that HE560 is very close to but not quite on the level of a well-driven HE6, so I think for you at least, that should be where you set your expectations.

For myself, my best cans (modded HE500s and 400s) are my reference, and from that perspective I'm very blown away by HE560's performance.

Perspective is key in all this.

you know what. I think I am actually sold on these now. Especially since you guys praise the soundstage so much. I think this is the way to go. At some point I would still like to see it vs the th900.

Certainly. I never considered my HE-6 to be well driven (or rather well matched from the source/amp perspective... Not under-driven but... I dunno, I was a bit disappointed w/ my setup, never reached its potential )
I have a feeling, the 560 being more efficient and less demanding, that I'll be in love wink.gif
