Extension in the treble is better than HE500/400, it goes closer to 15kHz before petering out. I'm not sure if that's just my ears though.

Bass is a bit interesting.

Ok thanks :]

You got my full attention now...

Yeah, seems like he560 is a no go for me. Unfortunate cause I love the build of it. I can't have trebly headphones if I want to also have enjoyment haha.

It's not treble-heavy at all. The balance is really nice between treble/mids/bass just from some initial vocal music. But yeah I will say HE500 is darker / more laid-back (even when modded).

I don't think he said that it has any peaks or emphasis in the treble region, just that it extends to 15 kHz before it runs out of gas.

We'll considering that when I did the jergpad mod I started to get fatigued I can say that treble extension might not be my thing frown.gif

Pretty impressive nonetheless. 15khz is quite extended.

Two short questions:

1. As far as frequency response goes, would you say its somewhat closer to HD600 than the HE500 in the upper mid - treble region? (That would make my day)

2. Bass quantity compared to the HE-500?

Thanks!  Impressions seem great so far!

My I was starting to doubt my purchase a bit but everything I've read so far suggests that I've done right after all...

Well, except for the interesting bass thing! What does that mean?!

If the HE-560's start to peter out at 15 kHz, when does the HE-500 start to peter out?

There is a (minor but noticeable and measurable) peak at 10kHz with HE500 that is always there regardless of mods, which is not-so with the HE-560 to my ears.

I would wait for an official FR/CSD measurement on these before making any conclusive statements about FR behaviour.

13kHz or so, and it just drops off a cliff. With the HE560 it still clearly extends past 15kHz just not linearly.

It's DEFINITELY fuller in the 2kHz-4kHz transition region compared to HE500, that is very apparent as soon as I did the sweeps and some music tests.

HE500's bass is fatter and I want to say packs more punch, HE560 has a cleaner and more neutral bass.

I talked about it on the last post of the previous page.

I am probably in the same camp as Nimzerz. The he6 has incredibly extended treble without harshness, yet it's too bright for me because I always favor a darker sounding hp. Liquid mids, deep visceral bass with texture not bloom and dark and detailed treble is what does it for me. I'm hoping that the he400i fits this criteria.

Quick MSPaint doodle of what the FR sounds like (importantly note the bass region, the low treble region, the treble extension, and the lack of ups and downs in the mids region) subjectively. (Sorry Berkeley U for ripping off your frequency range template off google image!)

Are you running them balanced out of the ef6?

Recently I've been listening to some test tones on my HE-500's and noticed the same 13 kHz steep drop and was hoping that it wasn't my hearing. I'll stay tuned, those HE-560's sound interesting. I'm sure it won't take too much time till you start the pad mods going.

EF6 doesn't run balanced :p

I am starting to swap between HE500 and HE560 now, both connected to the EF6. Will post some unorganized thoughts.
