Shouldn't the pre-orders be shipping?

My experience with stats is very limited and only with listening at meets and have never owned one. I think the hE560 is very fast and it is loaded with detail.   It will be interesting to see impressions form the Stax guys when they compare the two side by side.

I'd hope so... at least to the dealers. Soon-ish.

Are any of the 560 reviewers getting a pair of 400i's for review ?

They have been delayed for a few weeks

Question. Comments continue to come In on the greater distortion with the single sided magnet. What other orthos are out there with single sided configuration showing this distortion?

It's more of a theoretical conjecture that single-ended design won't have the uniform and simultaneous push/pull motion for the diaphragm as dual-ended designs, instead the diaphragm is only being pushed or pulled at any given moment. And that in theory means less control for the diaphragm and thus more distortion etc.

The only single-ended orthos available to the public currently are Hifiman's HE4, and JPS's Abyss. Both show some THD disturbances but that cannot be correlated to their single-ended design since their magnet structures as well as tracing layouts are distinctive relative to dual-ended planars available.

I'm sure someone mentioned it already, but the 560 is now available to pre-order from Hifiman's website, with late April shipping expected.  Plus, you get a free travel case for pre-ordering.

How do they compare to HD800?

I know they will be discontinuing the HE400 and HE500, has there been any mention of discontinuing the HE4 as well?

I am guessing the email is just an automated response to the order though, the pre-order page says they will ship in late April.

It seems like Hifiman predicted the release date pretty accurately; Fang quoted to me a 1-week delay to HE560 pre-order date, so it got pushed from early April (around April 4, which is the original projected time) to now.

And for those who are worried about HE400i being delayed due to HE560 delay, AFAIK (according to Fang) it won't and is still on-track. The changes implemented in HE560 over the last two weeks will go into HE400i without a hassle.
