Do $20USD "Audio upgrade Cable" actually make a difference?

Thread Starter

Just purchased a Shure SRH440 for the office.

While I am simply not a fan of coiled cables due to it possibly being cumbersome at work, I'm curious if anyone here has any experiences if $20 cable upgrades actually improve the sound :)

The item I'm reffering to

There are of course very, very cheap aftermarket cables that are junk with poor build quality, but beyond that, cable upgrades are quite a controversial issue. Some people think they make a difference. Others don't. Others say the difference is minimal.

However, those look nice for $20 smily_headphones1.gif

Most of the guys upgrade to coiled cables for convenience (related to design). There's not much impact on sound on a cheap cable that justifies the price..of course there are $200+ cables that have better materials, construction and durability.
